Streetz 94.5 FM was founded by Steve Hegwood & started in 2011 to fill a void that Steve Hegwood believed was missing from Atlanta and 12 plus years later, Streetz 94 5 is one of the best radio stations in the market while expanding the corporate brand nationally including the nationally syndicated Morning show Yung Joc & The Streetz Morning Takeover.
The journey is like any business startup, you have your obstacles and setbacks but with the vision of Steve Hegwood and the right people and components over time we have been able to sustain and grow in the most competitive radio market in the world with over 10 radio station competing in the urban format.
Our Program Director, Solo, is probably the hardest-working Programmer in the business and leads by example. He executes the vision really well while supporting everyone’s dreams in the process. We are still here and we still growing through consistency, creativity, good people, and hard work.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This market is not going to make it smooth, it challenges every day, technology being a gift and a curse because some demographics don’t listen to the radio as frequently as their parents and grandparents used to then you had covid which really put a damper on everything that the industry was doing and despite the hardships we were able to keep 99% of our staff during that time when everyone else was letting everyone go.
