Today we’d like to introduce you to Sultana Sams.
Hi Sultana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As for being an author, I’ve always loved reading and writing since I was a kid. I was in early elementary school reading chapter books that I used to sneak from my sister who was a teenager. The children’s books were over too fast for me. Writing a book had always been my dream but I didn’t think I could do it and didn’t know where to start. I used to write poems all the time. In 2013, I decided to finally start writing. My first novel was published in 2015. Now, I have 13 published books.
As far as being a Tax Preparer, I was a numbers person as long as I can remember. Math was always my best subject. I decided to get an Accounting degree and I worked at CPA firms preparing all taxes, including individual and business. After leaving the firm, I got another Accounting job but it wasn’t tax related so I decided to start my own tax business. I’ve been doing family and friends’ taxes for a small fee since 2006. Once they started recommending others to me, I decided to make it a business. Because I’ve gained clients in many other states, I decided Virtual would be the way I go for the most part.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been always been smooth. In writing, getting new books out is a challenge. Readers get excited and are ready for the next book in two days, LOL.
As for the tax business, there are challenges with so many tax laws changing yearly. Clients get confused and that’s why I vow to keep them informed of changes and new laws as soon as I hear of them.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sams Tax and Professional Services?
I am an Author of 13 novels. They’re all fiction but all have very realistic and relatable topics. Some of those topics include domestic violence, workplace discrimination and relationships. When reading, you’ll find that the characters are relatable. There’s someone you know or knew that will remind you of some of the characters.

Virtual services are offered so that I can assist anyone anywhere. I’ve been preparing taxes since 2005 after receiving my accounting degree. I have over seven years of experience working in a CPA firm.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was always reading. But, interestingly enough, I was a tomboy. I was always playing kickball, walking, running and even wrestling with my cousins. I was quiet until I got to know a person. Then, I would talk you to death. I also made honor roll all the time. Studying was easy for me because I loved reading no matter what type of books.
