Community Highlights: Meet Suzie Gomez De Silva of Haulers 23 LLC Trailer Rentals

Today we’d like to introduce you to Suzie Gomez De Silva.

Hi Suzie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I always knew I was going to be an entrepreneur, not just work a job that limited my time, my creativity, or my purpose. Becoming a mom of three made that vision even clearer. With my husband on the road as a truck driver and no consistent babysitter, I quickly realized a traditional job was not realistic for our family. If I wanted flexibility and stability, I had to create it myself.
At the time, we lived in Douglasville and I was part of a local Facebook group called Women of Douglasville. Almost every day, women were asking for a tow truck or someone to haul off furniture, debris, or materials. Just as often, they were frustrated with high prices or unreliable service. I kept seeing the same problem come up again and again. People needed hauling help, and they needed affordable, straightforward options. We already owned a trailer, so I suggested renting it out. My husband was hesitant and felt the liability was too high. We put the idea on pause.
A few months later, after doing his own research, my husband came back on board. That is when Haulers 23 LLC officially started. We purchased our first 8.5 by 20 car hauler, and it immediately went to work. That trailer has hauled big trucks, skid steers, mattresses, refrigerators, and all kinds of construction materials. It confirmed what I already knew. The demand was real, and people appreciated having a reliable solution without the runaround.
Business grew quickly, and we made the decision to sell our home and move to Henry County, where we purchased acreage large enough for when maintenance is being done on trailers. It also gave me room to maneuver since I still cannot reverse trailers very well, so I make wide turns on my own property and keep things moving. Today, we have earned over seventy five five star reviews on Google. We have made it this far because my husband and I make a strong team. He handles trailer maintenance and permits up to date. I handle phone calls, clients, and content creation. Together, we make a perfect duo and continue building a business rooted in service, teamwork, and real community needs.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part, the road has been smooth, but like any business, we have faced our share of challenges. Operating a trailer rental company means dealing with high value equipment that is constantly on the move, and with that comes risk. Early on, we learned that preparation and proper documentation are not optional, they are essential.
One of our biggest challenges involved a dump trailer that was abandoned in Tampa by a contractor, which required us to personally recover it. Months later, that same trailer was stolen and later located in South Carolina, leading to another recovery. Situations like that test your patience, your system and you as business owner. It was frustrating, stressful, and costly in the moment, but it reinforced the importance of strong contracts, tracking, and accountability.
Another major setback came when our first two car hauler was totaled by a semi truck in Mississippi. That loss was devastating, not only financially but emotionally, because that trailer represented the early grind of the business. However, because we had the right paperwork, permits, insurance, and contracts in place, we were protected and able to recover every dollar we were entitled to.
Those experiences shaped how we operate today. They forced us to tighten our processes, become more disciplined, and treat every detail seriously.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Haulers 23 LLC Trailer Rentals is a family based, veteran owned business built to serve the community in more than one way. We provide reliable, heavy duty trailer rentals for individuals, contractors, and small businesses, but we also focus on education and empowerment. We do not just rent trailers. We show people how to use them properly and how to build their own trailer rental business if that is their goal.
Our company was built from real world experience, not theory. My husband, a veteran and professional truck driver, handles maintenance, compliance, and equipment standards. I manage customer communication, operations, and content. Together, we stay hands on in every part of the business, which allows us to serve our customers with honesty, clarity, and practical support.
What sets Haulers 23 apart is our commitment to community. Whether someone needs a trailer for a job or guidance on starting their own rental operation, we meet people where they are. We are proud to be known for dependable equipment, straightforward service, and for helping others create opportunities through knowledge, not just rentals.

How do you think about luck?
If you ask me, there is no such thing as luck. What people call luck is usually the result of grind, hustle, and accountability, paired with faith.
In business and in life, I believe God opens doors, but it is our responsibility to walk through them prepared. The growth of Haulers 23 has come from showing up consistently, doing the work with integrity, and trusting God while taking full ownership of the results. The wins did not come from chance, and the setbacks were not bad luck. They were lessons that forced us to tighten our systems, strengthen our character, and grow.
