Today we’d like to introduce you to THEODORA MCQUEEN.
Hi THEODORA, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey into healthcare began long before it became my career. When I was 12 years old, my father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and I saw early on how deeply illness affects not just individuals, but entire families. Years later, life tested me again when my 12-year-old daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Those experiences shaped my understanding of care, dignity, and the kind of support families truly need.
I went on to build more than 25 years of experience in healthcare, learning the industry from the ground up through hands-on care, leadership, and compliance-focused operations.
Along the way, I studied in Business and Healthcare Administration and completed the prerequisite coursework for nursing school. This foundation gave me both the clinical awareness and the business discipline needed to build something sustainable and ethical.
After seeing the gaps in care and support for families, I knew I wanted to create something better. That vision led me to found Help Home Care Services in Covington, Georgia in 2019.
I built this company the traditional way, through hard work, and a commitment to doing things right and honest.
Help Home Care Services exists because I understand what it feels like to need help and not always know where to turn.
My mission is simple: Helping Everyone Live Peacefully. Every decision I make is guided by that purpose, because this work is not just what I do. It is who I am.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road…at all. I built my business while I was raising a family, learning the industry through hands-on experience, and managing constant challenges with staffing, finances, and compliance. There were many moments of exhaustion and uncertainty, but every obstacle strengthened my leadership and resilience. Those experiences shaped both my character and my company, and they taught me the value of perseverance, adaptability, while staying true to my purpose.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Help Home Care Services is a non-medical private home care agency based in Covington, Georgia, dedicated to helping seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities remain safe, independent, and comfortable in their own homes. We provide personalized support with daily living activities, companionship, respite care, and specialized support for families navigating aging and chronic conditions.
What sets us apart is our relationship-centered approach and owner involvement. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all care. Every client receives a customized care plan built around their lifestyle, preferences, and family dynamics. Our caregivers are carefully selected, trained, and supported to deliver consistent, compassionate, and reliable service.
We are known for reliability, integrity, and community trust. Families choose us because they know we show up, communicate clearly, and treat their loved ones with dignity and respect. We also take pride in being a strong advocate for both our clients and our caregivers, creating an environment where everyone feels valued.
Brand-wise, I am most proud of the reputation we have built. Our name is associated with peace of mind, professionalism, and genuine care. Our tagline, “Helping Everyone Live Peacefully,” reflects our mission in action, not just in words.
I want readers to know that Help Home Care Services is more than a service provider. We are a partner to families during some of life’s most vulnerable seasons. We walk alongside them with compassion, experience, and accountability, ensuring their loved ones receive the highest standard of care while preserving their independence and dignity.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5–10 years, the home care industry will continue to grow as more families choose to age in place. We’ll see greater use of technology to improve communication and coordination, more specialized care for chronic and cognitive conditions, and increased focus on professional caregiver training and retention. Families will also expect more personalized, holistic support.
These changes align with what I’ve always believed: quality home care is about more than tasks. It’s about dignity, trust, and peace of mind. Agencies that invest in people, systems, and relationships will lead the future of this industry.
