Today, we’d like to introduce you to Thierry Armel Konguep.
Hi Thierry, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story is a love and passion story. When I traveled to Africa in 2011, I saw many socio-economic issues, for instance, the lack of electricity, drinking water, and health centers in many African cities. Living in the 21st century with such a lack of basic necessities was a shock to me.
Upon my return to America and with my mother’s advice, who worked at the time at an international development institution, I desired to create an international consulting firm that deals with financial resources, trade, and training in order to help curb some of this phenomenon.
Financial resources: The matching of investors with the African private sector to provide them with the necessary funds to invest into their businesses and build a win-win partnership.
Trade: Trading via trade missions between Africa and the US to open African goods to the US markets.
Training: Designing training curricula based on the needs of African entrepreneurs who desire to enter the US markets.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth journey based on several challenges: 1. Language barriers. 2. Learning mistakes from me because of the local context of each country visited. 3. The search of trusted new partnerships and get them committed to my cause. 4. Getting the local government seriously involved.
Despite the above-mentioned challenges, I strive to minimize their outcome and continue my road.
