Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy Morrell.
Hi Tracy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
For as long as I can remember, I have always been driven to interior design. I remember sitting with my grandmother and aunt, looking through home interior magazines and catalogs. Back then, there were sales agents that you could order from. I also remember getting excited when the large Macy’s and JCPenney catalogs came in the mail. I used to flip through the home section and circle designs that I liked. One of the first times I designed a room was in high school. My sister and I resigned our living room at home. Our Mom gave us a budget and we went to the store buying accent pieces and wall art, mixing old and new pieces to refresh the space. Wow, even then I had no idea that interior décor would be a hobby that turned into a successful business.
How did I get to where I am today…? Several years ago, someone asked me why hadn’t I turned my passion for interior décor into a business. My answer was that I’d never thought about it in that way. Sometime later, my husband and I talked about it, prayed about it, went through a ton of name options, and started moving into position to start the business. Still not 100% sure how everything would work out, while in church, our Pastor asked the congregation who was thinking about starting a business or was at the beginning stages of doing so. Before I knew it, I found myself at the front with many others announcing my business name and him praying over it. Here I am, three years later with an interior staging and design business in the Metro Atlanta, Georgia area designing homes and spaces for amazing clients.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. Establishing a new business can be challenging. No one knows who you are or what you can do, you haven’t proven yourself. I still find it challenging at times to consistently market myself. I don’t have degrees nor certificates in interior design. However, I have been able to use my God-given talent and eye for design and my business degrees as tools to assist with creating a successful business. As a small business, my initial client (s) were learning experiences in different facets of the business. However, the bumpy road has allowed me to learn more about myself as a creative as well as a business owner and that prepared me for the journey ahead.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about A Pop Of Color Staging & Design?

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I have learned along this journey is to trust and believe in myself. I have also learned that God has graced me with the vision and creativity that no design school could have given me. In addition, I have also learned to appreciate every opportunity to become better and perfect my craft. I will always remain the student and the teacher.
