Community Highlights: Meet Valerie Flynn of T3 Event Rentals

Today we’d like to introduce you to Valerie Flynn.

Valerie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Our family purchased our business back in 2010. My husband and I didn’t know anything about events or tents or party rentals or even running a business in general. We just knew that we wanted to own our own business, and this one presented itself to us. We knew that with hard work and dedication, we would be able to do whatever it took to make it successful. We have very different strengths and together, we were able to stumble thru the first year and then the next year and the next, and before we knew it, 14 years had gone by. We have grown from three employees to 27 and our inventory has grown from our starting warehouse that was 5,000 square feet to now occupying 37,000 square feet of warehouse space.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely been a bumpy road over the years. To start, I work with my husband. That on its own is difficult because we live together and we work together and we are always together. We have had to learn to leave work at work, but the stress and attitudes still follow us home on occasion.

We have been thru all the highs and lows over the years – the years where the work was hard to come by, so money was tight, and you didn’t know how you were going to be able to pay the bills to the years where you get to plan out the fun things you are going to invest in because you had a good year. During covid, we had to scramble to find sources of income outside of our normal avenues because our industry makes money when people gather and people weren’t able to party. We even started a side landscape business to help people with projects at their homes so that we could keep our employees working.

We have seen times where people are fighting for a job with our company and times where we can’t find anyone willing to do the work. Reliable employees have always been a struggle for us and there are many occasions over the years that workers don’t show up so I have to go out and do the work myself.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about T3 Event Rentals?
We are a party rental that offers a wide variety of items from the floor to the ceiling for an event. We do many weddings, backyard parties, corporate functions, and even movie productions. We can provide the basics of tents, tables, and chairs, but also lighting, dance floors, linens, and tableware options. We pride ourselves in our customer service as well as the quality of our products.

What matters most to you?
At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that the customer is happy and has everything they need to pull off an amazing event. We are proud to be chosen to be part of the most important day in many people’s lives when they decide to work with us for their wedding.
