Community Highlights: Meet Yarelys Tifa of Cash Is Queen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yarelys Tifa.

Yarelys is a first-generation professional in the personal finance industry who is passionate about teaching and impacting people in their journeys after she became debt-free in 2019. She came from a very poor, low-income environment and grew up on government assistance her whole life. As a young girl, she knew she wanted to help her family get out of poverty and also help her community thrive. Formal education was instilled in her from the beginning. Her parents, coming from a third world country Dominican Republic, came to the U.S for the “American dream” and thought that going to college was her way out of the poverty mindset they were living in. These values were passed down to her so she focused on academics and put 100% of her efforts there. This led her to graduate from the University of Connecticut in 2011 with a degree in Resource Economics and a concentration in business management and marketing. Although she understood formal education was important, she also knew that it wasn’t the end all be all.

After over ten years and close to $90,000 of investing in herself through podcasts, conferences & books, she has created the brand Cash is Queen along with a 12-week coaching program to add value to people that are serious about getting debt free, creating generational wealth & building a life that they will be proud of. The business was born from a series of events around racial inequality & police brutality in the black community that created a spike in the BLM movement. She thought about what the world needed in this current climate and what her strengths were to help bridge the gap between what is missing and what she can bring to the table. Cash is Queen LLC was born from her just being tired of her community, not having the proper resources to persevere financially. Her life mission is to shrink the racial wealth gap by empowering and inspiring the black and brown community to get their finances right.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I am just starting in this journey so there have been many bumps and hurdles along the way. The first obstacle I have experienced is finding the right people and expanding my reach. But, as we all know, growing a business takes time and patience. A month after I launched the business, I was faced with a very difficult decision in my corporate job. There was an event that occurred which compromised my mental and physical health. After closely looking at my finances and investments, I took the leap of faith of leaving corporate America and strictly focusing on growing my business. This was probably the most difficult decision I had to make in my life. If used right, money can be a very powerful tool to create the lifestyle you deserve and desire. This situation made me more excited to teach others how to have “F-you money” and lean to my purpose with CashisQueen.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Cash Is Queen?
Cash is Queen is designed for young black professionals, families or anyone who is struggling to get back to square one when it comes to their money. I have created a 12 week 1-1 course for individuals to get from where they are to growing their net worth and actively creating generational wealth. I have designed the program based on everything I have learned from the resources I have invested in over the last ten years. The first month focuses on improving someone’s money mindset, overcoming limiting beliefs & setting SMART financial goals that align with their overall purpose.

The second month dives into the person’s specific financial situation and making tweaks to get them back on track. In this month, we go over budgeting, savings strategies, debt payoff, credit cards & scores and many more topics.

The third month focuses on intentionality when it comes to creating generational wealth. We discuss topics like cash flow quadrants, the seven streams of income, investing in yourself & the stock market, the resources available to us to make your money grow and so on. I was very intentional about the topics and content I added to the program to ensure it was going to be of value and change someone’s life. I am so excited about impacting others through this program.
