Conversations with Brandon Hall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Hall.

Hi Brandon, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I first felt the need to express myself through music because I kept having this repeated feeling that I didn’t belong. Whether it be to my friends or at school or in my family, I could not escape this feeling. So after suffering for so long, I finally decided to put my feelings down in writing and I found something that I really love. All the depression and anxieties of the world we’re now in front of me expressed in such a beautiful way. That was back in March of 2019, so we are quickly approaching two years of me being an artist. My official artist name is Sosbrand.on. I have just over 600 Soundcloud followers and 1,000 Spotify followers.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been sort of a smooth road but also not really. The music scene is very tough to navigate. A lot of people claim to want to help you reach an audience but in the end just steal your money. Also, finding your sound has been a struggle of mine for a while. I seem to journey down a lot of different paths. I will hear The Weeknd and be like oh, I can do that. Then listen to King Von and try to go that route. I need to learn not to do that. Also, budgeting is very difficult. You aren’t going to get out a good product that you weren’t willing to put good money into. So you save and save and then start to think… is all this worth it?

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m currently studying to be an electrician. All this is in hopes of earning more money to place towards my music because that is my main and only goal in terms of a career. But, being an electrician isn’t bad either.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I think the quality of being dedicated and not giving up is key. If you never give up on something, the probability of you achieving your goal is going to be high considering you are never going to give up. Also, being transparent about who you are, what your intentions are and how willing you are to sacrifice to achieve your dreams are all must haves.
