Conversations with the Inspiring Armani Sucki

Today we’d like to introduce you to Armani Sucki.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Armani. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started Choked2Death when I was 20 years old. I woke up one morning and asked my sisters about starting a choker line and from their encouragement the journey began. I was in a very dark time in my life when I started Choked2Death so I really wanted to start a hobby to take my mind off of the things that were troubling me the most. I started going to hobby lobby and purchased cute trim pieces and attachments as my first attempt. October 2017 is when I took my first sewing class and from there everything was self-taught. Sewing was a trial and error for me but I was already so passionate about it I couldn’t give up even on the hardest projects. Later that year, I started selling designer inspired swimwear and it went up from there! I was at pop-up shops every week during the spring trying to Choked2death’s name out there as much as possible!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being an entrepreneur alone is VERY difficult. Especially running a small business where you’re the accountant, marketer and the worker all in one. Some struggles for me include: daily motivation when sales weren’t where I wanted them to be, time management for business when having a 9-5 and managing money accordingly. The advice I would give to an upcoming entrepreneur would be TAKE YOUR TIME! The process should never be rushed and you won’t know everything, you’re first going around. Mistakes WILL happen but as long as your passionate, consistent and dedicated time will work in your favor!

What do you do? What do you specialize in?
I am a cut and sew fashion designer. I create a piece from all sorts of fabrics. Im know for creating a mix of streetwear and chic clothing. So, at Choked2Death, we’re bound to meet any need whether it’s a night out with the girls or a chic day look for lunch with your boo! I’m very proud to say that I help women every day feel more confident and encourage them to step out of their comfort zone by wearing things society thinks they can’t or shouldn’t. What sets me apart from others is my brand name alone. I’m pretty sure after this you won’t forget the name! My overall mission is me wanting to get personal with my customers and build stronger relationships and empower them to step out their box daily! Many women come to me as complete strangers and are not confident enough to wear certain things but I’m here to be that positive push for them to do things for themselves and not what society thinks is they should do.

Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
Finding a mentor can be easy or hard, it’s all about you opening up to people in the world and talking to strangers sometimes. Luckily, my family is full of entrepreneurs, so I have several mentors for different reasons.
