As a woman who has walked through childhood obesity and disordered eating, I have experienced what it feels like to be incredibly uncomfortable in your own body. Over the past ten years, I have deepened a passion for health and fitness. Learning better nutrition habits and fitness routines, I have chased fiercely after a healthier version of myself while gaining confidence and comfortability in my body that I severely lacked as a child and teenager. After experiencing bullying as a child and the hard fight towards feeling good in my own skin, one of my greatest passions is now empowering women to also feel great in their own bodies whatever size and shape they may be. This passion of uplifting and motivating women to be their best selves is the reason why I became an independent rep with Zyia Active. We may sell amazing, high-end activewear for every type of workout and athleisure activity but we are so much more than a cute pair of leggings as a company. Zyia Active is an active lifestyle brand and a culture that believes in embracing activity with excitement, vigor, and delight. Our mission is to inspire and uplift by making activity fun and essential part of life while providing high-quality activewear with fabric technologies that give the muscle support and motivation needed to feel great in any activity. Becoming an independent rep for Zyia Active has given me my own motivation back to be my best version of myself while also giving me one of the best communities I have ever experienced. This business has truly changed my life.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting any business is a large investment of time and resources and there are usually bumps along the way. My journey in this adventure with Zyia Active has been a very large learning curve. Getting started was actually very smooth because I have amazing support to help me with growing my small business every step of the way. I’m not alone in this business and I am constantly being challenged while being given the resources to succeed. One of my greatest struggles has actually been having enough time to follow up with so many customers and inquiries about products and our business. I consider this a very good struggle as we are in a time period where activewear is worn anywhere and everywhere and people are looking for a high-end product without the high price tag and that is exactly what we have to offer. Another struggle along the way has been juggling all of the media outlets I use to grow my business. It can be very overwhelming to start a business and use all of the available platforms to get your name out into the community and world. One of my greatest pieces of advice is to take things one step at a time. There will always be more than you can do and more to learn, but you can’t do everything at once. Trust the process and never stop learning from people who are already successful in your field and industry.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
As an independent rep for Zyia Active, I have the privilege of teaching others about our company and what it stands for. Every day, I have opportunities to inspire and uplift women and men by encouraging them to be the best versions of themselves when it comes to their holistic health and fitness. Yes, I also sell our product line but I also get to be part of women feeling a new level of confidence by experiencing an amazing product and this is what I am most proud of being able to represent this brand. Other than being known for incredible community that provides motivation and encouragement, we are specifically known for our Light n Tight Hi-Rise leggings. This best selling product features great compression, 4-way stretch, and moisture wicking material to keep you dry, supported, and comfortable during any type of workout. My customers tell me all the time that they never have to be pulling on their leggings during their more intense workouts because our design stays in place while also being completely squat-proof.
Most of my business is run online. My customers shop from my website and I also set up opportunities online to earn highly discounted items. Social media is my greatest marketing outlet, but I also set up at local events and fitness studios around the Atlanta area to share our product line with the fitness and athleisure community. You will find me most Saturday mornings around Atlanta connecting with women and men in person and sharing our brand’s mission.
Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
As cliche as it may sound, one of my greatest female inspirations is my mom. She has always taught me to work hard and dream big while being one of my biggest cheerleaders. I have watched my mom live out what she has taught me and is one of the hardest working women I have known. Even while working hard in her own work life, she finds time to give back to others and uplifts the community around her. She inspires me to keep pressing on even when it is challenging to move forward whether in business or life because she lives out her dreams through her dedication.
