Today we’d like to introduce you to christy parry.
Christy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve been taking photographs for as long as I can remember. My closet is full of albums and boxes of photos from school. When I decided to go back to college it was for photography (the Creative Circus) and now it’s been ten years that I’ve been shooting full time! I love the ability to make my own schedule, the people I get to work for, and the flexibility and creativity in the industry.
Has it been a smooth road?
Being a photographer doesn’t seem to be very rare these days. I think it’s easy to get caught up in comparing yourself to the way other photographers do things or their work. At the end of the day, you have to find what works for you and your clients and your schedule. There are times I start to wonder if I should have gone a different route with my work but then, I remember that I love where I am in life and what I shoot. I don’t have to do everything and if I change my mind, the hard work is always there for me to start.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into christy parry photography story. Tell us more about the business.
I work for myself, and the majority of what I shoot is family and wedding photography. I take on a handful of corporate jobs per year. I am just as happy to see my work on a website for a huge company as I am to take the perfect shot at just the right moment in a family session. My heart and soul are in travel photography, which I do almost strictly for myself. I love that my job has allowed me the free time and ability to save and travel the globe taking photos and making new friends.
Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
My mother and grandmother have taught me how to get along with anyone. I love seeing the work of other photographers on social media every day traveling and documenting.
