Conversations with the Inspiring Eboni Holst- Collins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eboni Holst- Collins.

Eboni, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I worked for a wireless company over 20 years and held several different positions resulting in promotions.  A year ago, I was given the opportunity to take a voluntary severance package. The package offer came shortly after I was considering a career change, so I jumped at the opportunity. Despite having a few moments of uncertainty, I quickly began to plan my next career move! I’ve always enjoyed working with people and building relationships, so Real Estate was a perfect match.

Has it been a smooth road?
I would say it was an easy decision to leave Corporate but a very emotional one. I have been working in the Corporate world for half my life. It was stable, familiar, I gained several skills, and it resulted in a very successful career. In addition, my positions were very flexible. As a single motherthe flexibility allowed me to have a great work-life balance. I was very fortunate to have many time off options and, with great benefits!  It allowed me to do things I needed and wanted to do with no restrictions.

I would say, I was very comfortable but always longed for more. If you are comfortable, you have little to no growth and I thought it was time for a change. So one month after taking the package, I took a real estate class, passed, and got my license in July 2019. In September, I joined Keller Williams Realty in Roswell, GA. I’ve had a couple successful closings thus far and this is only the beginning. I would say to any woman feeling stuck and scared to take the risk, just make a plan.  You never know how great you can be without getting out of your comfort zone.  The key is to be intentional!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Georgia Realtor story. Tell us more about your work.
Currently, I’m a realtor with Keller Williams in Roswell, GA. I focus on assisting families with selling, buying and/or investing. My focus is not only to assist families in buying their dream home but always providing the knowledge on the process so my clients can make an informed decision.  I never want to rush my clients into making a decision just to get to the closing table. I want to always ensure they are truly satisfied with this major investment!

Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
I would definitely say get a mentor. Mentors are important in any career field you chose.  A mentor can be someone you’ve worked with or for and that specializes in your current field of business. Working for the same company for over 20 years has definitely helped me build a community of friends and with that comes referrals. So whatever you do, remember you are creating your brand daily!
