Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendall Smith.
Kendall, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my business with a random idea because I loved hair every since I was a kid, I always changed my hair every single week, I tested some hairs and asked my mom for a $600.00 loan which me & my sister both got one, spent $1,200.00 on 30 bundles of hair & it sold out the first week. We kept investing, both saving our money every week from the profit, one week our money went missing to get inventory and my sister refused to put her saved money back in and I felt the same, but I didn’t want to give up, I started up my site in 2013 from my cell phone which was an idea I had because I learned that PayPal was connected to my site and most people use it as a third party processing compan, of course, that year, I didn’t sell anything online when I created the site, but I didn’t give up in 2014, I purchased an ad from multiple people via Instagram including the famous shade room spending $500.00 of my $700.00 I had left they generated me over 70+ sales in less than 24 hours, I applied that same routine promoting with any and everyone I could find who had an audience and I did that for 30 days straight using all my profit to put into my brand in 2014, my site made 28k, 2015 my site made 528k & 2016, I pulled in 1.2 million in sales & even opened my own location & here I am now growing every single damn day.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No journey has a smooth road, my journey was tough. My childhood wasn’t too pretty but my family did all they could and usually circumstances mold you into who you will be but I choose to beat the cycle, open my mind and open even more books and didn’t let the past alter my future, I’ve always had a drive and believed in planning. If you are starting a journey, be prepared to give it your all, God will always bless you if you have faith and you believe in Him and not only Him, you believe in yourself.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
All though selling hair alone is enough, I still enjoy standing behind the chair most people don’t understand it but I love it. My brand is known for the lowest priced bundles in the country with some of the best quality I love that I get to change how a person feels just by experiencing my products.
