Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiera Brown.
Kiera, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Before I started my brand in 2017, Topless Clothing was just an idea I had back in 2015. I wanted to stand out and have something that nobody else had. I wanted the word “Topless” to be more than just what people think. But shortly after, I experienced a miscarriage. Having a miscarriage led me into depression. Years later, I decided to pursue therapy and during that time I realized I was dealing with more than a miscarriage. There was a lot I didn’t have in my life as a young woman mentally and emotionally. These circumstances caused me to become insecure with myself and not have confidence. The past two years took a turn for the better. I met women who empowered me during my healing stage and now I’m more confident than ever. I realized that so many young women were dealing with the same or similar situations. That’s when it hit me, Topless can mean so much more. November 2017, I decided to pursue Topless Clothing Co.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Between being a mom to an 11 year old little boy, working a full-time job, and building my business, nothing about my journey has been smooth. I’ve had many setbacks, however through trial and error I’ve learned how to become resilient and conquer my fears. There were many times I wanted to give up but I couldn’t see my life any other way but successful.
What should we know about Topless Clothing Co.? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Topless Clothing Brand was created for women to be BOLD, BRAVE, CONFIDENT, and FEARLESS. Bold enough to love the skin she is in and daring enough to show it to the world. Brave enough to show her own abilities, qualities, or ideas. Topless Clothing Brand is about helping women all over the world become fearless in their businesses and lives. Topless as a brand has hosted its 1st Annual Breast Cancer Walk and all proceeds were donated to the Georgia 2Day Walk for Breast Cancer. I want to change the negative perception of the word “Topless” and what it represents. To be Topless is to live without limits.
I’m most proud of how much I’ve accomplished in just a year. This year, Topless Clothing Brand was featured in Living Royalty’s and IDEB’s (I Demonstrate Educated Beauty) 4th Annual Fashion Shows. All proceeds raised were donated to Hosea Feed The Homeless. These are the things I’ve always dreamed of doing and my dreams are coming true.
While I realize that there are other great clothing brands out there, what uniquely sets me apart is my versatility, my vibrant style, and my ability to set trends. Another unique thing about Topless Brand is its purpose, which is to inspire young women to be bold, brave, confident, and fearless.
Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
My future goal is to become a mentor to other young women teaching them how to become empowered and how to be self sufficient. I wish I could give my younger self the advice I would give young women today. It’s very important to love who you are inside and out. You can’t be the best at anything if you can’t be true to yourself. Everything happens for a reason. Without mistakes and failure, you would have never grown. Once you understand this and I mean really understand this, you will know that everything comes in your life to serve a purpose. Also, focus on one thing at a time and this is advice I’m continuously giving to myself. If you don’t keep your focus right, you might not achieve anything. Trust yourself. Trust that your intuition is leading you in the right direction and that by taking this leap of faith, you’ll wind up doing something you are really proud .
