Today we’d like to introduce you to Porchia Marie.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Porchia. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started out as the day-to-day manager for Dae Dae, and after that moved into entrepreneurship. I’ve always been known to be a master of my environment, hint to my nick name: Master P, so I felt like it was time to take control of my own destiny. I currently manage iSwear Cartier, a talented rapper and producer I discovered. My primary business venture is The P.M. Firm and Dope People Meet – a boutique entertainment marketing and event curation company based out of Atlanta, Georgia. Founded in 2016, we’ve consistently produced successful marketing campaigns for clients and done a great job of building a significant following in Atlanta. We’ve served a number of high-profile clients including K Camp, Rare Sound, Spinrilla, Atlantic Records, A3C, DJ Holiday, Commission DJ’s, Since the ’80s, Belaire Rosé, Lit Vodka, and Martell Cognac.
Under The P.M. Firm umbrella, Dope People Meet has provided sponsors with an engaged, relevant audience of entertainment consumers and influencers in the Atlanta music scene.
Has it been a smooth road?
I moved here on faith in 2014, with my car and my clothes. Nothing was secured from housing to a job. I was blessed by my good friend Adam Lee to sleep on his futon and a closet to put my clothes in. I began my first official platform, “The P.M. Effect” which was a sports and entertainment outlet that led to me hosting red carpet events and conducting celebrity interviews. I began interning at Radio One Atlanta (now Urban One Atlanta) which brought me into the realm of entertainment. Through the ups and downs, I’ve had great mentors along the way to help guide me.
Being a female in the entertainment industry isn’t the easiest job. This is a male-dominated industry so you have to have tough skin and know how to maneuver without getting treated as the underdog and be respected as a boss in your own right. My advice to women trying to enter into this field is that you must know how to present yourself in a room full of men. Be friendly but stern; don’t confuse the vibe being too flirty. You don’t want a man to focus too much on trying to take you on a date when he owes you a check. Period!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The P.M. Firm, LLC | Dope People Meet story. Tell us more about the business.
Beyond my brands, I’ve become well-known in Atlanta as a notable host, talent manager, creative director, and entertainment strategist, also known as “Master P.”
The P.M. Firm specializes in public relations, talent management, digital marketing, creative direction, event planning, and brand development.
The P.M. Firm and Dope People Meet prides itself on innovative brand awareness and strategic marketing tools for an everlasting impression and experience.
I can proudly say that all of our events have had an amazing track record of loyal supporters.
What sets me apart is the ability to handle risk management from curating a successful 48-hour turn around fan experience for K Camp & Spinrilla with 400 plus attendees to pulling off an entire “Edgewood Takeover” parade in less than a 72-hour time span.
It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
