Today we’d like to introduce you to Precious K. Williams.
Precious, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Joy influencer! Two words that describe who I’ve aspired to be my entire life! I am an optimist that believes in impacting others to live a life worth following – on and off of the internet! This mindset was instilled in me at a very young age as the daughter of two very hard working Ghanaian immigrants. They made sure my siblings and I took bi-annual trips to Ghana in order to see the world as bigger than the south suburbs of Chicago. It was through these experiences that I first witnessed true joy! In each stay, I observed the world’s most beautiful smiles. People with half as much as the families I knew state-side but twice as much joy/enthusiasm! It would be forever ingrained in me, from that day forward, that true joy is God-given, comes from within, and must be embraced on an individual level!
Fast forward past my young adult life, I became a woman that saw the antithesis of this joy around me and it grieved me! The 2016 presidential election had come to a close and the tension around me could be cut with a knife. It was at this moment, that I realized the time had come to turn my passion for sparking joy in others into a tangible gift to the world. Unsure of where to start, I prayed for the courage to change and Simply passionate life was born!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
What’s a smooth road? The journey to building a lifestyle empowerment brand with two children, a whole husband, ministry responsibility and a career has definitely been challenging! It causes me to take a lot of my own advice on many days! I’ve had to practice the art of contentment: appreciating the life you have while you work for the life you want. Building a personal brand is truly a pleasure because it has required me to be firm in my identity and confident in the lane God has placed me in uniquely. Timing has been EVERYTHING! While I love to network and build my audience online and through speaking opportunities, I recognize that my brand will not be for everyone. I embrace the fact that certain milestones will be reached at a different pace than others in my field- and that’s OKAY! So, here lies my advice for women on their journey to empower and educate others:
1. Live a life that YOU CAN BE PROUD OF first!
2. Trust the beauty of God’s timing in your life!
3. Becoming a private success will inevitably be attractive to others (not the other way around)!
What should we know about Simply Passionate Life? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a counselor, writer, and speaker in Atlanta that utilizes a variety of platforms to share my message of how to live a joy-filled life. I am also the founder of Simply Passionate Life (SPL), a lifestyle brand and motivational media outlet for ambitious women. We are a budding community of women that intentionally aspire to a life full of joy and contentment in all areas of our lives; mind, body, and spirit. Through books, programs, and productions, we aim to inspire people to enjoy life’s journey daily and to live passionately from the simple to the extraordinary moments. Our three primary focus areas are faith, family and fitness. SPL started out of a deep desire to see more people enjoy the simple moments in life, rather than focusing solely on the tangible landmarks of life. The ambition of western culture lends to a focus on professional promotion, social advancement, financial gain, relationship status, and physical appearance rather than the growth that comes from being present in every moment. As the chief Joy Influencer of SPL, I am best known for producing motivational content, transformational wellness challenges, compelling messages via public speaking, and enthusiastic environments as an event moderator/host.
Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
Wow, such a loaded question! I constantly say that God continues to bring women in my life, at each season, that leaves a lasting impact on my story! My first two would have to be my childhood mentor Alise Barrymore and my mother Juliana Kofie. Both women are the epitome of balancing strength and humility! They love God, love his people, and give unapologetically! That is the foundation of who I am today. As I’ve moved from Chicago to DC (Howard University Stand UP) to Atlanta, there have been countless women that stand out as just fearless in their pursuit of what sets their soul on fire and this is how I hope to be remembered. From my sorority sisters that are killing it in their fields: Nubia Murray, Nicole Melton, Tiffany Battle and Trinity Leflore Martin (google them) to superstar moms like Angela Lewis and my sister Krystal Kofie Horhn who remind me that home is your first ministry. I have been overwhelmed by the amazing ways God keeps reminding me of what is possible when you follow HIS will for your life! So, now, my goal is to blaze my path by bringing glory to Christ in every way and inspiring more people to live with passion.
