Conversations with the Inspiring Tiffany Godwin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Godwin.

Tiffany, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always been described as someone who has a big personality and someone who loves to talk! I have also always been told that I am a very positive, motivating and inspiring person. So, I decided that I could mix all of those qualities and start helping others by creating a YouTube channel, TILAGO’s Tidbits, in March 2018. I simply started writing ideas down, researching ways to communicate more effectively, and talking into my iPhone camera about each idea, in order to create my YouTube videos! As of today, I am still talking into my iPhone camera (LOL) to create videos providing tips for my viewers on how to discover and live out their God-given purpose and do it with a more positive and motivated mindset!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I would say, so far it has been a fairly smooth road. The biggest struggles that I have faced have all been internal. Those struggles include inconsistency, feeling like a video’s content wasn’t good enough, and beating myself up for not getting all of the edits exactly perfect. I believe these are struggles that all creatives face. We always want our work to be perfect, but I’ve definitely learned that done is better than perfect in the world of YouTube. I realize that as long as I am creating content FOR the viewer, even an imperfect message will inspire someone in some way. Every now and then, I hit a roadblock and my creative juices seem to stop, so instead of forcing myself to create, I just wait until that moment passes… because I know it will pass.

Some advice I would give to women who are starting to pursue their YouTube journey or their motivational journey would be to create a vision for where you want to go. Your journey is not always going to look how you think it should but if you keep your “eyes on the prize” and stay focused on where you feel that you can go, you’ll be fine! It’s not always going to be easy. You’re not always going to have gung-ho supporters but your work will not go unnoticed, so KEEP GOING. Don’t quit just because it doesn’t look like you’re reaching the right audience or inspiring the people you want to inspire. Trust that what you are creating is perfect for SOMEONE out there in the world, and they WILL see it.

What should we know about TILAGO? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Currently, I like to call myself a Motivational YouTuber! I create videos on my YouTube Channel, TILAGO’s Tidbits, to empower others to discover and live out their purpose with a positive and motivated mindset. I specialize in breaking down information and providing practical steps for my viewer to live out their purpose and I’m most known for delivering content with a bubbly personality.

As a brand, I am most proud of seeing that my “work” is not falling on deaf ears. It is such a blessing to see that people are, in fact, being inspired and motivated by the content that God is blessing me to create. I am creating, simply to empower others so if I can see that I am actually doing that, then I am satisfied!

The thing that sets me apart from others is that I am a millennial who is not afraid to say that being a Christian and having faith in God are what keep me so positive and motivated. I think some people, millennials especially, shy away from professing how big of an impact their faith has had in their lives. In most of my videos, I will surely refer to God and scripture and things I’ve learned at church but I never do it in a way that is demeaning to those who may not believe the same things I do and it is not intended to persuade my viewer one way or the other. I think it is important to be honest about who you are and if I didn’t show people that my faith is key to my journey, then I wouldn’t be showing them my authentic self.

Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
I definitely feel that my experiences growing up played a role in setting me up for success. I, first, have to give a lot of credit to my parents! I grew up in a two-parent household filled with joy and love. My parents have always been supportive of anything that my brother and I have pursued. They’ve always instilled a mindset in me to go after the things that I want in life and to actually believe that I could do and be whatever I wanted. I know that everyone wasn’t blessed to have both parents in the home and in their corner so I am forever grateful to them!

I also think that the friends I chose as I grew up, played a significant role in setting me up for success. I have always been closest to people who have had goals and aspired to do great things! I believe that you really are who you hang around and my absolute best friends have always inspired me. Each of them has always been go-getters and individuals who will go after whatever they want in life, no matter what others around them have to say about it. So, they deserve some credit as well

While there isn’t one key experience that I could note that played an outsized role in setting me up for success, I do believe that I was privileged and blessed to grow up in an environment that was always positive. Things weren’t always picture perfect around me but the people I was blessed to “do life with” always saw the glass half full and kept an optimistic perspective on life. Ultimately, this showed me that positivity and optimism is a choice and that life really is what you make it!
