Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Harrell.
Veronica, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always been interested in Mass Media whether it be in the form of Radio, Television or Online Media. While in high school, I was on the school newspaper. Then, in college, I majored in Journalism and Mass Communications so this has always been a passion of mine. I currently even work for a local TV and Radio station. Last year, I did a Podcast with one of my good friends and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Doing the podcast had me to revisit an idea I had to start a blog some years ago when my daughter was born. I honestly wanted to start documenting my journey when I first became pregnant but did not know if anyone wanted to hear my story. I had to realize that if no one at all wanted to follow my journey I wanted and needed to do this for me! I’ve finally found the confidence to share my thoughts and ideas with others. I want other women to know it’s never too late to pursue your dreams.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
One thing I have struggled with especially after giving birth to my daughter was my confidence. I would have so many ideas but self-doubt would always be hanging out in the background. I am blessed to have a village of people around me that encourage me to go after my dreams. I was always one of those people who would breathe life in other peoples dreams while not pursuing mine. I was allowing myself to stand in the way of my own potential.
I encourage young women out there who have a goal to just do it! Show up with what you have and give it your all. It does not matter if you do not have the best right now, work with what you have to get where you want to be. Surround yourself with like-minded people who will encourage and uplift you. Don’t worry about what other people are doing or think who will ever want to listen to me or buy my products. YOUR ONLY COMPETITION IS YOURSELF!
What should we know about Vibrantly V Blog? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My blog Vibrantly V primarily focuses on Motherhood, Lifestyle, and Fitness. I want to let moms out there know that even though they are moms, they still can accomplish their goals. My motto is “Life does not stop with Motherhood it begins! Continue to be you! ” As moms, we have to remember that this is only an extension of who we are. I enjoy being a mom but have other passions as well. We can still be moms, enjoy adventures and take care of ourselves physically and mentally all while inspiring others. I know that by pursuing my dreams, I am showing my daughter that she can pursue hers as well.
I am so proud that I have begun this journey. I hope to inspire other moms like the ones that I know and follow have inspired me!
What do you feel are the biggest barriers today to female leadership, in your industry or generally?
One of our barriers is doubt from others and sometimes ourselves. As women, we have to work harder at times to prove ourselves worthy to fulfill certain roles. I know that when we let go of the doubt we have in ourselves we can then go on to prove to others that we can accomplish ANYTHING we put our mind to. When women are truly given the opportunity to shine, they shine well. I am thankful for all of the women who proceeded to me who believed in themselves.
