Today we’d like to introduce you to Zsa Zsa Hubbard.
Zsa Zsa C. Hubbard is the biggest personality in the business. In the true form of a self-made businesswoman, Zsa Zsa used her immense persona to go from working in the Detroit City County building as a deputy clerk to event moderator, radio personality, and CEO and owner of multiple businesses. In addition to immense sacrifice and fortitude, each of these endeavors stemmed from a desire to simultaneously meet a need and educate a community in her own way.
Before quitting her job as a deputy clerk, Zsa Zsa came in contact with a host of business owners seeking information about the process of purchasing business names. She ultimately walked away from her job and used her innate business savvy and connectivity to form The Hubbard Resource Group— a business development hub offering business consulting and non-profit development resources.
Utilizing her own professional resources to add to her business portfolio, Zsa Zsa became deputized by the City Clerk as a Wedding Officiate. This quickly became a successful independent venture called United Vows—a private wedding officiating and vow renewal service.
As fate would have it, United Vows encountered a wedding client in need of a makeup artist. Fortunately, Zsa Zsa was well versed in the latest beauty trends and practices, thanks to her mother who made it her life’s passion to make a person fall in love with their perceived flaws using hair and makeup. Zsa Zsa’s own flaws –hair loss due to Alopecia— led her to follow her mother’s example. From then on, United Vows offered a makeup consultation with any wedding package. Whether it was her own hair and make up or an example of her work, the reviews were all raving and the childhood dream of owning a spa had been revitalized. Soon after, Zsa Zsa opened The Detroit Lash Lounge not only as a nod to her mother’s influence, but also another personal and professional goal achieved.
Soon after The Hubbard Resource Group was established, Zsa Zsa’s mother became sick. As the oldest of her siblings, Zsa Zsa became deeply involved in her mother’s medical responsibilities and was forced to learn the legalities of the hospice and home care system the hard way due to her mother’s condition and level of care. As her mother’s condition worsened, Zsa Zsa saw the lack of information and resources available for families with loved ones with debilitating diseases and health challenges and started the Kelly’s Kids Foundation—a resource and advocacy program for families with debilitated loved ones— in honor of her late mother, Kelly Hubbard.
Now, Zsa Zsa Hubbard is using her voice (and her Specs Howard degree) to engage and educate as the new radio talk show host. “Yeah, I Said It!” is a weekly radio show that discusses all things Detroit from the good to the bad to the down right ugly, not shying away from taboo topics and always ready to inform and educate. In addition to radio hosting, Zsa Zsa is using her gift of engagement to host social, networking, and corporate events as an event moderator.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
