Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Meeks
Hi Nicole, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As a young girl I participated in many school activities from talent shows to track meets and with two working parents transportation was something I had to be strategic about. No one wants to be that kid last to get picked up waiting on their parents. Especially not me, that’s why I always had a plan! Planning assisted me in getting to where I needed to go. Not only did I always have a ride home, I had a backup…. you know, just in case! Planning helped me workout problems and come to the table with options and solutions to life’s many curve balls. I found creative planning in 2016. Now a Mom of 3 and needing a cool mom planner with a decent font; I stumbled on Etsy. Quickly I realized I had been missing out. There was a whole community dedicated to tasks lists and color-coding highlighting! I found my people! Less than 3 months later, I moved to Atlanta from Dallas, TX and the planner scene here is amazing! I instantly met and connected with women in my area who introduced me to different planner styles, pen types and techniques! I was mesmerized and excited at all the ways I could organize and enhance my life with just a planner! EEK! After 3 years in the community, Planheruniverse.com was born, I decided I wanted to make shirts for planner babes. Since then, I have been designing apparel and mugs for planner people! I have recently started a YouTube Channel where I showcase how I use my planner, my experience as a planner person and highlight planner products I love! Creative planning allows me to keep my “curiosity excursions” in the same place as my plans. It’s also given me an outlet to my creative inner child and a community I wouldn’t trade for all of social media!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been CRAZY! I learned quickly that it was me vs myself on this road and I understood that my confidence and faith had to be intact. Although I am an avid planner, I had never run a business and this learning curve is real! To align and be less anxious with this transition, I joined the Oyun Ministries where they feed my spirituality and faith;keeping me level headed and confident.
Learning more about how to run my business in alignment with my energy was highly important to me. I found the tools and community to do so solace with the Collective of Multi Passionates run by D’Ana Joi. That’s where I go to escape Social Media and get clear on my business.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in having a listening ear, an analytical mind, and expansive imagination. This has helped me plan the hurdles and think through what’s best for me. This has translated wonderfully into my business because I am able to share tips and techniques to plan life’s hiccups and be a resource online for positivity and planning! All of our merchandise is made for planner people. Many people apart from the planner community drink coffee or tea while planning and our mugs are perfect to add to the aesthetic of any planning session! Our most popular mug is the New Narrative Mug! This quote came about during the back and forth comments between myself and another planner babe. She was saying how she is leaving behind dead situations and I was telling her…. “You don’t have to deal with people who are no longer for your narrative. Keep writing and rewriting your own script!” She said put that in a mug, and BOOM! It was a success! Planners understand that things change and we are ready to adapt and recalibrate to move forward. A mindset I think everyone can benefit from!
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
We are expanding our product offer in the Summer of 2021 to offer planners! These planners will be quarterly and will be geared towards mindset over scheduling. It focuses on moon tracking and meditation as a foundation towards healing and clarity. This planner forces you to look within yourself and develop your own synergy. Once you have balanced yourself out keeping a consistent planning routine will be simpler and easy to maintain. After that launches, a coloring book and I’m sure more stationery to follow and even an event once the world opens up again!
