Conversations with Abigail Striggles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abigail Striggles.

Hi Abigail, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I didn’t grow up going to salons every two weeks. I learned how to care for my hair by experimenting, messing up, trying again, and eventually falling in love with the process. Doing my hair became my safe place / my creative outlet and before I knew it, people around me were asking, “Can you do mine too?”

For years I brushed it off as “just helping out,” but a part of me knew it was deeper. Every time I braided someone’s hair, I saw the way their shoulders relaxed. How their confidence shifted. How a simple style could change their whole spirit. That feeling stuck with me.

Fast forward: I move to Atlanta with nothing but faith and a vision that scared me a little. I knew I wanted to create something that felt luxurious and cared for something I felt was missing from my own experiences as a client. So I started small. Just me, a chair, my tools, and the promise that anyone who sat with me would get my absolute best.

There were moments I doubted myself, moments where building a brand felt heavier than I expected, but I kept showing up. I invested in my skill, my education, my professionalism. I studied what makes people feel seen and valued. And slowly, AvieBeautyCo grew from a service into a full experience. Clients weren’t just coming for braids they were coming for peace, comfort, and a stylist who genuinely cares.

Today, I’m proud of how far it’s come. I’m building not just a business, but a community and expanding into memberships, courses, and products that help people care for their hair both inside and outside the chair. I’m still growing, still learning, still dreaming bigger.

But it all started with that little girl in the mirror, figuring it out strand by strand and I carry her with me every day.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road.
When I started AvieBeautyCo, I knew how to do hair but I had to learn how to run a full business. Figuring out branding, scheduling, boundaries, and finances while trying to deliver a luxury experience was a big adjustment.

Moving to a new city and building my name from scratch also tested my confidence. There were slow seasons, long hours, and moments where I questioned myself. I had to learn how to stay consistent, stay organized, and not burn out.

But every challenge taught me something important. Those struggles pushed me to grow, refine my systems, and trust my vision. They’re the reason my business is as strong and intentional as it is today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a hairstylist who services men, women, and kids, specializing in braids, twists, loc retwists, sew-ins, quickweaves, and faux locs. I’m known for my clean parts, gentle technique, and creating a calm, professional, luxury-feeling experience for every client.

I’m most proud of the standard of care I bring from sanitization to scalp health to customer service. What sets me apart is that I focus on both the look and the experience. My clients leave not just styled, but valued, comfortable, and confident.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that consistency and confidence matter just as much as talent. I realized that showing up, staying organized, setting boundaries, and trusting my own vision are what truly grow a business. Skill gets you started, but discipline and self-belief keep you going especially on the days when things aren’t perfect.
