Conversations with Alysha Allen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alysha Allen.

Hi Alysha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born as well as raised in Macon, GA. I am an only child and from childhood until adulthood has a gift for gab and writing. I wrote my first “book” while in high school. It was a book of poems I wrote and from there my love for writing flourished. Around 2004 upon graduating from cosmetology school, I fell into the wrong crowd and before I knew it, I was pregnant. I became very I’ll during that pregnancy and it even eventually put me in a wheelchair. After a long hospital stay, I was told I would never walk again and to just deal with that fact. I reached out to a physical therapist and started working with her at home. I learned how to walk again and after recovering from a rare brain disorder, I found it my mission to motivate and uplift other people.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh no! Definitely not! I had childhood obstacles that stemmed from my father doing drugs and often choosing the street life over his family. I think because of that my trust level is minimal where it comes to men. Don’t get me wrong my father loved me and I loved him to the moon and back. I just wish my childhood was different. Sadly he passed back in 2021 which has not been easy at all!!

As an adult, it has been difficult rebuilding my life after having such a rare and complex brain disorder. It can get hard-throwing it to the back of mind when it changed my life remarkably.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Currently, I am an Elementary Registrar which means I sign the children up for school, schedule classes, I make the announcements daily, and so much more. It’s not a job for the weary honey!

I specialize in anything people-oriented. I’ve always been a people person and I never meet a stranger.

I am known for having a bubbly personality and a voice that will make you listen.

I am most proud of my two beautiful daughters. I am the mother of a 13 years old and a six months old. I am also proud to be the wife of Mr. Charles Allen. My husband owns his own business and his work ethic makes me even more proud of him!!

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Yes! I’ve learned many things since we have been affected by COVID.

1. Keep your hands cleaned A LOT.
2. Family is more precious than you think.
3. Stay current on all doctor appointments.
4. Appreciate the small things.
