Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Connally.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
AmberNicoleProductions focuses on different athletes and their lives outside of them being an athlete. “A Little Something Extra” is a segment to help market Music Artists, Events, Businesses and Leaders in the Community.
I am a 27-year-old, Temple University Graduate; who received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism with a Spanish Certificate.
My Short Term Goal is To pursue Graduate School for Business Marketing and a Certificate in Public Relations. Ten years from now, I could see myself successful in the Sports Entertainment Industry in either New York, NY, or Los Angeles, California. Previous experiences with college radio/television, and unpaid internships, has taught me that it is necessary to learn everything behind the scenes, before being in front of the camera or on-air. Currently, I work at CBS3 Eyewitness News as a News/Production Assistant. I am pushing to learn almost every aspect of the media industry… whether it is in Production, Directing, in Television or Radio. With being able to take all that is taught, with me into my future career endeavors. I will one day have my own talk show. So look out for me!
My first business baby is Amber Nicole Productions. This focuses on different athletes and their lives outside of them being an athlete. “A Little Something Extra” is a segment to help market Music Artists, Events, Businesses and Leaders in the Community. I launched ANP in 2017 shortly after coming home from a six months unpaid, 9-5p internship in Evanston, IL. Struggling and living an hour away from the internship as well as not having many opportunities after I decided that it was more than time to start my own thing. I needed to create my own opportunities and that is exactly what I did. Heavily into internships and working for free, I started at a company called My New Philly. When I saw that I was being pushed into production and doing things for free whilst having deaths in my family and not having an understanding team; I figured that it was time to move onto something elsewhere with great opportunities. I jumped into my first outside-world radio opportunity with ESPN Radio that switched over to NewsTalk Radio. Though I had to travel greatly for these different events, it was great to be an Associate Producer for the show, meet tons of student-athletes, meet many different people in the sports world and even hear myself on the radio.
Being a former Division I Athlete at Temple University, and growing up playing a variety of sports, I knew that this is something that I wanted to stick with. That internship has opened doors and out me into rooms that I would not have gotten myself into alone. Being taped live on ESPN during the 2017 NFL Draft that took place in Philly, and meeting Stephen A. Smith as well as Mike & Mike, etc. was the only motivation I needed. I pushed the gas on creating Amber Nicole Productions which is formerly known as Amber Nicole TV. I started with interviewing people who were either friends of mine or athletes at Temple that I had access to, and who were either getting drafted or played some sort of professional sport. My company began to take off with interview inquiries and lots of people noticing. This is how I tapped into different categories and was contacted for event coverage and hosting.
A lot had been happening around that time. My family and I were on the Ellen Show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRZyXCZ8-0M&ab_channel=TheEllenShow
My company was doing beautifully, I met who is now my fiance, I had finished my internship and then got a job at 101.1 More FM as a street team member. JUST WOW!
Honestly, working a 9-5 has made me lose sight of my production company. I fell into the pattern of working for someone else. As of recently I will be taking a leap of faith and putting in my two weeks at the News station to refocus on Amber Nicole Productions. I am engaged as of July 31, 2021 (my birthday), I have given birth to my first son, his name is Blaze, born on December 3, 2021. Things are in for a new turn. I cut my hair in January, and the baby and I had our first modeling gig together for a major company (Lansinoh) back in April. Things are going great with modeling. I will be able to model, work on my company, and build my baby brand that I haven’t launched yet. I cannot wait for my new journey to start and to be as big of a name as I imagine to be. I will continue giving to those who need it with my family, modeling, running my production company, starting another business, creating family content, putting my son out there for modeling, commercials and campaigns, and helping those in the modeling industry with their confidence and how to get started as a model or social media influencer. I will be creating a page for my model start-up program soon. I have had clients but didn’t push it out to the world yet.
I do a lot and want to be great at it all. I am tired of being told no to my ideas, working for others, and being limited.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think that I’ve written most of it in the previous question but I think being a black woman, who is plus, tall and has a gap… I am not the “ideal” of what you see on TV. I’ve been told that I was too tall for the cameramen. I didn’t grow up seeing women who looked like me either so it was very discouraging. But in today’s world, people are building their own doors and I will be one of them.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
A lot of the world (due to social media) knows me as Amber Nicole. I also have a brand called the Curvy Empowerment Project. I help women with their confidence, teach them how to model, take photos, pose, have workshops and even packages if they’d like to take it serious. The packages always ended in having them ready for the world with the knowledge to get signed to a modeling agency. At the workshops, it was always something different, but I made sure to have a public speaker every time. If you go to my business Instagram AmberNicoleTV, you can see in the highlight where I have had previous workshops. With the money made from the workshops, I would then do some type of community service.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory is transferring to a new school (Meredith Elementary). That is where I met a lot of my life-long friends and even got to explore the arts. I learned to play the flute, I sang on the choir, was in dance and even acted in the plays. All the best moments in my life. 🙂
