Hi Amé, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m an aspiring actress, voice artist and singer in Atlanta. I’m originally from Hermanus, South Africa. I studied drama at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa and pursued my career as an actress for two years before moving to the States. Originally coming to the US, I was convinced that somewhere someone will see me, hear of me and open up a door with and opportunity. So I listened to God when he sent me to the US as an Au pair because I knew in my heart he had better and bigger plans for my life but also for my career. In South Africa, I fell inlove with a beautiful woman who moved to the US 2 years ago to get to know her father and her younger sister and so life took me on this journey to the US to follow my dreams, create a successful career next to a powerhouse of a woman by my side..
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road hasn’t been too smooth. After my contract ended as an Au pair I was forced to either go back to South Africa, where I struggled finding work, hardly making ends meet, and try to figure things out from that side whilst being in a long-distance relationship with the love of my life. Or I have to get married to this woman I’ve been dating for the last six years. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I didn’t want to get married. It just felt like we were robbed from a gathering with friends and family only to be sure to stay in the same country and actually have the opportunity to create a better life for myself, my partner and my family back home. Also of course to not be separated by seas.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Since I was born, I was told I’m a triple threat in everything I do. I’ve always been a drama queen and with that comes the love of being on stage, getting people to laugh or even getting them to cry. I believe that my career is my superpower. I’m proud to call myself an artist and a creative. I specialize in acting, singing, voice artistry and I’ve dabbled in some directing. I’m known for my voice but also for simply entertaining people. I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve traveled all the way from South Africa across the world to follow my dreams as an actress. And that’s also EXACTLY what sets me apart from others. I’ll go to extreme lengths to be successful in my career but also to achieve my dreams of becoming an internationally recognized actress/voice artist/singer.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Growing up by the beach must be my favorite memory of my childhood. Going to the beach whenever I wanted to and being able to enjoy it with my mom, dad, brother and sister!
