Conversations with Andrew Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Jones.

Andrew, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born in 1961 in Greensboro, North Carolina, the youngest of six children raised in a faith-filled, hardworking family. Rooted in the church from a young age, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior in 1973 at Bass Chapel United Methodist Church. What began as a moment of childhood conviction would become the anchor of my soul through decades of trials, triumphs, and transformation.
A graduate of Morgan State University, I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. My professional path led me into the corporate world, but my personal journey was marked by the secret battle of addiction and the public calling of ministry. Years later, after experiencing both devastating lows and divine breakthroughs, I answered the call to deeper service, earning a Master’s Degree in Biblical Counseling from Luther Rice Seminary. This academic achievement reflected more than education it was the fruit of healing, the evidence of restoration, and a testament to God’s grace.
Currently employed by the State of Georgia, I used my experiences and training to serve not only professionally, but also spiritually. A devoted member of Berean Christian Church since its inception, I have faithfully poured himself into numerous ministries including Pastoral Care, Children’s Church, Sunday School, Men’s Ministry, Counseling, and Small Group Facilitation. I am known for my authentic approach to leadership, combining lived experiences with biblical wisdom to walk alongside those navigating life’s toughest storms.
More than titles or accolades, I define my life by purpose and impact. My greatest joy is found in mentoring others, offering help to the hurting, hope to the hopeless, healing to humanity and testifying of God’s power to redeem and repurpose even the most broken past. I often say, “If God can do it for me, He can absolutely do it for you.”
I consider it both an honor and a privilege to serve God’s people. I am deeply grateful that, despite all I have endured, God continues to use me as a vessel for ministry, healing, and transformation. When not serving or speaking, I enjoy time with his beloved wife, his children, and his grandchildren—grateful each day for the new life I now walks in. I penned the book “From Ashes To Anointing. a life journey of trials and triumphs of a person overwhelmed by Life Controlling issues and the process of moving from Ashes To Anointing.
This book is not just his story—it is his offering. A testament to God’s redemptive power, and a guiding light for anyone ready to move from ashes to anointing. I am grateful writing coach LadyTyTheGreat “Titanya Johnson” at Greater U University for preparing me to begin and complete my book writing endeavors.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
An example that I shared in my book is: I was just twelve years old when I experienced two defining moments: I received salvation in a small country church in North Carolina, and on a different day, I was introduced to drugs by someone I trusted. Those two moments, diametrically opposed, set the stage for a forty-year tug-of-war between light and darkness, faith and addiction, hope, and despair.
This is the story of that battle.
It’s a story filled with brokenness, betrayal, and backsliding. But it’s also filled with mercy, miracles, and the unrelenting love of God. From my early years growing up in a devout, loving family, through the duplicity of my double life in college, to the depths of my addiction and the redemptive power of God’s grace, this book walks through every chapter of what it means to fall and to rise again.
You will read about near-death experiences, divine interventions, marriage under siege, spiritual callings colliding with secret sin, and the healing that only comes through surrender. You’ll see the transformation of a man who went from a functioning addict to a faithful servant. And you’ll discover that deliverance is not an event, it’s a process. A process that requires honesty, humility, and daily dependence on God.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
In my professional life, I serve as a state government employee, where I am committed to public service and community impact. Beyond my career, much of my work centers on service, mentorship, and healing. I am an elder at Berean Christian Church, where I actively participate in multiple ministries, including our small group ministry that supports individuals struggling with life-controlling issues.

My personal journey through similar challenges inspired me to write a book about my own experiences, with the goal of helping others find hope, recovery, and restoration. I see this work as part of a broader calling to contribute to healing humanity through transparency, faith, and service.

I am also deeply engaged with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, where I serve as the Voter Registration, Education, and Mobilization Chairperson, helping empower communities through civic engagement. Additionally, as a Christian counselor with a master’s degree from Luther Rice Seminary, I apply my training both in church ministry and in supporting individuals in recovery.

Across all these roles, my purpose remains consistent: to uplift others, strengthen communities, and use my experiences and education to bring hope, accountability, and transformation.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
