Today we’d like to introduce you to Anetra Watkins.
Anetra, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m originally from St. Louis, Missouri and at the time this happen to be my very first year living in Atlanta. I was sitting down brain storming with my room mate at the time on how I wanted to find a way to have the ability to inspire and impact the lives of others and I didn’t have any idea on what the name of the brand would be or the type of business I’d start. I went into my room that same day and before I could walk through the door the name NoShade came to my spirit. I turned around and said “NoShade? NoShade! How does that sound?” to my roommate and we both fell in love with the name. I knew then something amazing happened. I was always complimented on the style of frames I wore so it was only right that I incorporate nice luxury frames into the brand. As I reflect back on where I started I remember getting my very first apartment and in the kitchen was where it all began. I knew if I wanted anything out of life I had to step out on faith and walk in my purpose no matter what I didn’t have I always knew I’d gain everything I needed along the way. I’ve currently been in Atlanta for 5 years and NoShade Luxury Eyewear has grown so much. I’ve had the ability to expand my reach online via e-commerce to opening multiple locations. Every day we’re growing and it’s just the beginning to an amazing journey. The marathon continues.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road was never smooth and I didn’t expect things to be. Along the way, I was able to see who genuinely supported me from family, friends, co workers and even complete strangers. I had to realize that along the way God will send you the right people to help you get to where he wants you to be. At the time I started my business I had the vision and didn’t have the money to supply inventory, create a website or promote my business but I didn’t allow that to stop me or limit my dream. I found myself working overtime to have the ability to pour into NoShade like I needed to. Nothing worth having comes easy, it’s all in how you persevere that will take you to your next level.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
NoShade Luxury Eyewear provides unique/stylish frames that you will not find anywhere else. We are one of a kind. Each pair of frames has a special touch to them. Once the frames are placed on your face you instantly feel confident and ready to take on the world! NoShade ultimately means you hear the shade but don’t see it which sets us apart along with overall quality. I’m most proud of the impact that NoShade has made. To see men and women feel amazing, inspired and look flawless makes me happy and reassures me that I’m doing the right thing.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I was a pretty good kid. I was into sports, played volleyball and ran track in school. At a young age, I always thought outside the box and never limited my thinking. I was super goofy and still currently to this day. Love to laugh, love to be the reason someone smiled or didn’t give up. My personality is outgoing and laid back.
