Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelica Turner.
Hi Angelica, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am an entrepreneur where I am talented in many things, but a purpose of mine that God placed in my life is aspiring for the Next Generation. The nonprofit I have is called NexGen Revolution.
This is a nonprofit where we are educating our next generation on fundamental lessons needed to be a productive citizens. Establishing an environment that you can make a difference. As well as aspiring to be the best you can be and to apply yourself using talents naturally given as well as learned. Then believing that you can do anything you put your mind too.
As I was growing up we had programs like this and activities that helped mold me into the person I am today, and I want the generation coming after to have that same experience.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Whenever you do good, evil is always lurking in the shadows.
So I face obstacles on a daily basis and I know God would never give me what I couldn’t bear so I keep my focus on him, and that helps a lot with the daily struggles I may encounter.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
NexGenRevolution hosts programs and classes that help with Reading/math Literacy classes for at risks students, Financial Literacy Classes, Mental/Health Wellness Seminars, and Parenting 101 classes for newly established parents.
To decrease the number of youths in the community engaging in alcohol and illegal drug use because they feel they do not have nowhere else to turn or healthy coping mechanisms. To intervene early, provide education and promote awareness among youth and adolescents dealing with disabilities. Provide youth with education and hands-on experience on how to successfully take on life and feel confident in doing so.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Definitely to have a solid foundation in whatever you do. Because society may fade away, but your faith system and belief in God will keep you grounded when there is chaos all around.
