Today we’d like to introduce you to Ann White.
Hi Ann, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was saved at nineteen. With no one to disciple me after surrendering my life to Christ, I floundered in my faith for more than twenty years. Until God allowed me to get to the end of myself. It was then that I fully surrendered my life to the Lord. That was the true turning point in my life; a complete life-change for me, and the beginning of a healed soul and healthier marriage.
God drew me closer to him through prayer and through the study of His Word. Ultimately, my desire to encourage and help others led me to birth a ministry called Courage For Life and publish several books, Bible studies, Devotionals, and two all-female-voiced audio Bibles (in English and in Spanish). I’ve also written workbooks specifically designed to lead at-risk women and men toward a life of Courage inspired by their faith and relationship with Christ. Today, these workbooks (in English and in Spanish) are being taught in correctional facilities throughout in the United States.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Since I said “yes” to God in 2012, when he prompted me to begin writing and birth Courage For Life, we’ve been on a fast track developing, teaching, and distributing emotional health and Spiritual growth resources. And although it hasn’t been necessarily “easy,” God has visibly blessed our efforts by allowing us to grow exponentially while remaining fiscally responsible before God and to our donors.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the Founder and CEO of Courage For Life.
Courage For Life exists to encourage individuals to embrace their God-given courage for life. We create emotional health, spiritual growth, and Bible study resources to disciple individuals to grow in their relationships with God and others. We desire to serve anyone who aspires to live the abundant life God intended for them with a specific focus on incarcerated individuals, those who have trauma, abuse, addiction, or dysfunction in their past or present lives, and those who desire to grow in their relationship with God.
We recognize that God gives courage by strengthening individuals with the truth of his Word and that he empowers them by the work of the Holy Spirit. We acknowledge that we are all stewards of our God-given courage. It is our responsibility to offer our abilities, personality, work, resources, giftedness, training, relationships, and experiences (i.e., all of our lives) back to God for his purposes. Therefore, I, the Courage For Life team, the Courage For Life Board of Directors, and our many volunteers and supporters are unified in our desire to show all people that they not only have value but also can discover truth, experience life transformation, and embrace their God-given courage while stewarding these assets for God’s glory.
What does success mean to you?
I believe true success is when we achieve something that makes a positive and lasting impact, not only on our lives but also on the lives of others.
