Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Woods.
Hi Anthony, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
As a kid, I’ve always had an attention to detail and creative nature. Growing up, as many kids are I was immersed into the realm of video games so much so I wanted a career out of it. In high school, I chose to take a 3d animation class in which the prerequisite was 2 classes of video production. I fell in love with creating videos and loved the stories that I could tell with them. Whether it was a recap video or an interview I just loved the creative process and the way my mind came up with different ideas. On down the road, with my video background in mind, I was challenged by an old mentor to take photos at an event. I knew nothing about still photos at the time but nonetheless accepted the challenge. Afterward my mentor came and thanked me due to never receiving photos like them before. So as photos became my forefront video took a backseat but now they’re both the highlight of my giftings.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road… with struggling with the idea of marketing myself along. I believe everyone deals with imposter syndrome to a degree. For me putting myself out there even though everyone loves my photos I tend to compare myself a lot. I have to deal with the constant sound of “you could’ve done better”. Which in turn have me question myself “Am I really that good?”
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a creative just like that. I know that may sound cliché’ but that’s it. I’m a firm believer of your mouth can create the world you live in. So no matter what’s asked, “Yeah, I can do that” is my answer. I will say photos and videos tend to be my biggest strength. I mean, I founded a company merely off of my photo skills that specialize in fashion and boudoir. I know, I know a male boudoir photographer… Yes, cause I pride myself on bringing out the beauty in women and not overly editing their bodies which is what I believe sets me apart. Every client I’ve ever had has left empowered and loving themselves deeper.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up was interesting as now I’m the complete opposite as a person. I was the shy, timid, don’t talk much geek in school. As an adult, I’m a lot more vocal and tend to go out more. Especially since being in the gym, I’m a bit more confident than I was.
