Conversations with Ashley Billings

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Billings.

Hi Ashley, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was always the friend people called to help them get dressed for events, trips, or big moments. Styling was something I did naturally long before I ever considered it a business.

During the pandemic, I co-founded a resort wear line with my sister-in-law. That experience taught me a lot about fashion, branding, and entrepreneurship, but we ultimately dissolved the brand in 2024. Around that same time, I had the opportunity to work on wardrobe for a few international commercials, and that was a turning point for me. I realized how much joy I get from dressing people and helping them feel confident and seen.

Another major shift came when I did my own color analysis about a year ago. I’ve always loved fashion, and people have always noticed and connected with my personal style. But learning which colors truly complemented my skin tone was life-changing. For the first time, it felt like people were seeing me and not just the outfit. I began sharing that knowledge with friends, and watching their confidence grow made me want to explore it even deeper.

With encouragement from people who believed in me, I stepped out on faith and launched Styled by Ash Marie. My goal is to help women feel good in their skin, dress with intention, and wear colors and silhouettes that truly support who they are—not trends that don’t serve them.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest challenges has been understanding the value of my expertise. When something comes naturally to you, it can be easy to undervalue it. I had to learn that styling, color analysis, and the emotional labor of helping someone feel confident is real work—and that it deserves to be priced as such. Early on, I didn’t always charge my worth, but that growth has been a powerful part of the journey. Every challenge has helped me become more confident not just in my talent, but in my voice as a business owner.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a personal stylist and creative consultant through my brand, Styled by Ash Marie. I specialize in helping women feel confident, seen, and comfortable in their own skin by using intentional styling, color analysis, and thoughtful wardrobe curation. My work focuses on dressing real women for real life (busy mom life, television appearances, photo shoots, events, or everyday moments where they want to show up as their best selves.

I’m known for my eye for color, my ability to translate someone’s personality into their wardrobe, and for making style feel approachable rather than intimidating. Color analysis is a core part of my work because I’ve seen how transformative it can be when someone understands what truly works for them. When the right colors and silhouettes are in place, the woman shows up first and not the clothes.

What I’m most proud of is the confidence shift I see in my clients. Styling isn’t just about outfits. It’s about helping women trust themselves, take up space, and feel aligned with who they are. Many of my clients come to me unsure of where to start, and leave with clarity, ease, and a renewed sense of self. It makes my heart burst when it clicks!

What sets me apart is that I don’t chase trends. I focus on longevity, intention, and individuality. I listen deeply, I meet women where they are, and I build wardrobes that support the life they’re actually living. My goal is always for my clients to feel empowered, not styled into something that doesn’t feel like them. I could style people how I style myself, but my favorite part is bringing someone else’s style to life.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was born in LA and was always performing. Dancing was my first love, but I also sang, acted, and basically found any excuse to be on a stage. I was definitely the life of the party. Always entertaining, always expressive, and never shy about taking the spotlight. Creativity and performance have always been part of who I am but there’s nothing like our younger self that had no fear—at 47 I’m scared to do everything Lol
