Conversations with Assata Amani

Today we’d like to introduce you to Assata Amani.

Assata Amani

Hi Assata, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born in Queens, NY. After some years, my family relocated to Fayetteville, NC. There, I found my love for art and education. I went to Methodist University and got my Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications and further went after my Master’s in Digital Marketing. I used to have stage fright but started making music in my college’s studio. I fell in love and now I’m here.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been far from easy. In 2017, I was diagnosed with a mental health disorder and in 2019, I got a big blessing, my daughter, Aaliyah. Being a full-time mom and artist has taught me to keep pushing even when things seem bleak. I have a lot on my plate but through patience and prayer, I keep going.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am known for my art forms music, modeling, acting, and photography. I am most proud of my multi-talented abilities and how I can hone in on anyone at any point. They all tie in with each other. Being a visionary and always learning is what sets me apart from other artists.

What makes you happy?
Traveling makes me happy because I am able to see the world outside of my home. To experience new foods and new cities brings me the most happiness.
