Conversations with Avianah Dixon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Avianah Dixon.

Avianah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My passion to do hair came about when I was in 12th grade, I enrolled in a cosmetology program. I always enjoyed enhancing women’s beauty when I first started doing lashes, and at that point, I decided to further my education and attend Paul Mitchell right after I graduated high school in 2019. During the time of attending cosmetology school, I found my niche and decided I only wanted to work with luxury extensions services and treating natural hair to set myself apart, I also started to realize alot of stylists don’t focus on hair care.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes, there’s been a few bumps in the road. One of the biggest challenges was during the Pandemic due to the lack of not being able to service clients. Another one would have to be because I am new to the hair industry, working in a salon or just trying to build clientele in an over-saturated industry can be discouraging at times.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in natural hair, from the treatments down to the style, as well as Microlinks and tape-in extensions. I set myself apart from other stylists because I put all my natural hair clients on a healthy hair journey. I’m most proud of my versatility with being able to work with natural hair and extensions.

What’s next?
My plans for the future is to further my education and continue to build my clientele. I would love to start teaching classes in the future and to become a mentor for young upcoming stylists.
