Today we’d like to introduce you to Avondale Estates Farmers Market. Them and their team share their story with us below:
The Avondale Estates Farmers Market began in 2013 but really got its footing in 2015 when its home became the parking lot of My Parents’ Basement. Since then, it has grown to support up to 40 vendors each Sunday and has become one of the states only year round farmer’s markets!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road is never a straight and narrow path and there were lean years in the beginning but the market was able to work with vendors and its community to build a diverse and engaging space.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
The Avondale Estates Farmers Market cultivates a dynamic space for farmers and small-scale producers to sell directly to the community in and around the Avondale Estates/Decatur area. Over the years, the size of the market and its presence have grown significantly but the personal charm of the market/vendor/customer experience still inhabits the soul of the AEFM. The growth is most notably felt when we became a year-round market.
