Hi Blanca, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am originally from Honduras, a small country in Central America that faces many challenges. Growing up in an environment where daily necessities were not guaranteed instilled in me a strong drive to seek a better life for my daughter and myself in the United States. My family in Honduras was always on my mind, serving as a constant source of inspiration and motivation to improve my circumstances.
Determined to create a better life, I worked hard, saved money, and pursued my education to obtain a cosmetology license. The journey was not easy, especially since English is not my first language. However, the unwavering support from my family and my desire to be a role model for my children fueled my perseverance and shaped my character.
After gaining valuable experience working at a hair salon and taking additional classes to further my education, I decided to take the next step in my professional journey: opening my own hair salon. This venture is not just a business for me; it represents the culmination of my hard work and dedication.
My background and upbringing have taught me the importance of resilience, hard work, and the value of community. I aspire to create a welcoming space for my clients and to inspire others in my community to pursue their dreams, no matter the obstacles they face.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road for me, The first challenge was the language barriers, because back then I didn’t know how to communicate with so many people I lost great opportunities, because of that I start studying English either taking some class online, watching movies in English and listening to the Bert show to help me with this challenge.. I know my English is not perfect and I am still learning but I wouldn’t let this to stop me to reach my goals.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am in the beauty Industry, I specialize in hair extensions, Color and haircuts In my business, I am so proud to be the first one in my family to own a business.
What sets me apart from others is that I prioritize the client experience above all else. I want each person who walks through my doors to feel valued and cared for as an individual, not just another appointment. It’s important to me that every client feels welcomed and appreciated, leaving the salon with a smile and the confidence to take on the world. Kindness and empathy are essential in my salon, creating a positive atmosphere that enhances the experience for everyone.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Discipline, passion and love for what I do is one of the most important characteristics for my success.
