Conversations with Brandon McGee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon McGee.

Hi Brandon, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Peace and prosperity to you all. My name is Brandon McGee and I’m from St. Louis, MO, born and raised. I first got into acting while attending North Carolina A&T State University in 2014. It all started with an organization called “Aggie Night Live”, where a team of students and friends would put on live comedy sketches for the campus. Getting on that stage and performing opened my eyes to a whole new world. Since graduating in 2018, I moved to Georgia and began seeking professional training and moving forward with my acting career.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. I realized maybe six months after I started my career as an engineer that this was not something I could see myself doing forever. It didn’t fulfill me nearly as much as acting does, so in a way, I had to start over. Going into the acting world coming from engineering has been very intimidating and humbling at times, it made me question if I was crazy for wanting this. You meet other actors that’s been doing this for years and you realize how much work and commitment it’s going to take. Not to mention having to do the weekly two-hour commute just to attend training. All in all, I wouldn’t change it for anything. I’m loving this journey and I’m going to ride it until the wheels fall off.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve been acting now for about 4 years with training, 8 years altogether. I love tv/film, I feel like I can excel here. Currently my main focus is just continuing to train, mastering the craft if you will. I also recently started voiceover training as well. I want to develop as many skills and be as versatile as possible.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I also do photography in my spare time; I specialize in portrait photography, but I’ve been venturing into other areas as of late, such as nature and landscape photography. I just love to create, whether it be on set or with my camera somewhere. I feel free, it’s my happy place.
