Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlin Webb.
Hi Caitlin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m an independent artist who makes earrings and loves to draw! I started drawing in middle school and realized that this skill could be used effectively with my writing and my stories! I studied animation for a bit at SCAD and I’m currently attempting to sell my art and make a profit so that I can focus on projects I want to pursue.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When I was younger, I struggled with work-life balance. Having time for a social life, a job, and work was a hard thing to do. At some point I realized I had to limit one of them to make time for the other two. Currently, I haven’t been able to find a good market or audience to appeal to. Not many people know of my business so I’m trying to get myself out there more!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I make earrings and I draw. I 3d model my earring designs in blender and print them with resin at home. These are what I’m known for and my best sellers online, and probably my most interesting work as well. My drawings are usually of characters I personally created, though occasionally I do fanart and draw other things I like.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Good things take time- whether its improving a skill, meeting good people, or building a business. Everything isn’t going to happen exactly when you want it to, but if you care about it then it’ll work in your favor.
