Conversations with Camille McCoy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Camille McCoy.

Hi Camille, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Everything started when I decided I needed more than just working a 9 to 5! For about seven years, I worked for Cook County oral health department. I went to a trade school to become a dental assistant because I knew I needed to be in the health field and those jobs and careers are always guaranteed. I needed something stable because I already had my first child and needed to be able to take care of him. Gave dental 10 years of my life. Worked very hard, never late always on time, always in attendance, and hard working. But In the middle of that I then decided I needed something to sell that people would buy. Something educational I thought. So a children’s coloring book came to mind and I created one and I began to sell it on Amazon. I thought that it needed to start young for people to be educated about their oral health because there were always adults who came into the dental office, not knowing proper oral health or afraid of the dental office stating that they never been to the dentist because they were afraid, but a lot of bad oral health could have all been prevented because it starts at home. So I thought it would be nice to create a fun children’s coloring book inspired by my kids so that other kids can be inspired to brush floss and take care of their teeth to prevent health issues. From there, I became a home owner. I knew that I wanted generational wealth. I knew I needed to establish something with longevity that I would be able to leave to my children and real estate property caught my eye. As I always say multiple sources of income is the goal. In the mist of that I was a club promoter to get extra cash. I loved bringing people out to have a good time. I also attended Illinois media school for radio TV and broadcasting. Which led me to host my podcast and be apart of other podcast shows such as The Big Mark Podcast where we have open controversial conversation. Being to voice my opinion and influence others to voice there’s as well. So a serial entrepreneur am.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No it wasn’t easy family and friends loyalty were tested, when priorities are put first or even when you need a helping hand. But that’s the minor struggle so many rules and regulations to learn and follow. So many does and don’t. So many fees, bills and repairs. With no guidance because you knew no one around doing what you had planned. Then you realize you’re all in it by your self w/ God! And without him I’m not sure I would have made it this far. But one thing for sure I always turned to him for guidance when things got overwhelming and I was ready to give up on it all when everything became too much. Those talks with the man upstairs kept me going and motivated me not to give up.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was very outgoing and shy at the same time. Always tried to keep people together but at arm length as well because of trust wise. I was a outside summer baby. Born in 115 degrees weather shows how much I love summer time. Always wanted my own talk show I guess that’s where podcasting came about.
