Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Brown.

Cassandra Brown

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I remember as a little girl knowing my passion for hair was real. All of my life, I loved making things look pretty and I fought for the position I am in now. For a long time, many people told me being a hairstylist was not a real career, and I believed them. Then one day, I decided to eliminate the access I had given people, so I could soar. I started to trust GOD and the process He had for my life. Jeremigh 29:11 became a foundational scripture that I still to this day implement it in everything I do. I knew that I had to conquer my fears in order to achieve my goals.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road is never smooth to being successful. Anything worth having is worth fighting for. My biggest struggle was believing in me because for a very long time, I needed validation, a cheer corner, and someone to tell me I could do it.

I had become dependent on what others thought was best for me instead of knowing only I could make my life better.

Financially I was not stable enough to jump out on my dreams, but I knew if I did not it would not get done. I did not have a full support system.

So many things were thrown my way on my journey to become a better person, and mainly this happens when you are trying to walk abundantly in your calling. Obstacles/challenges build/mold you into the person GOD needs you to be.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a licensed Cosmetologist, Barber, MUA, Mentor, Philanthropist, and a Master Educator. I specialize in several things i.e.: Locs, Hair Color, Silk Presses, and overall natural hair.

My favorite specialty is color because I love how my clients light up when they see the transformation. Color is a bold move; it brings out the innermost characteristics in a person. It signifies their creative thinking, personality, and the thing that they want to express the most.

I am most proud of being Mother. My children are my biggest accomplishments. They have driven me to be the woman that I am, the creative, the artist, and most of all the Mother I’ve always dreamed of being.

2 Timothy 2:21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart, as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.

What sets me apart is I am always truly my authentic self; I honestly never waver. I pride myself in being consistent with everything I do. Whether it be taking my children to practice every day, performing at my absolute highest in the salon, or just being great!

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I have learned on this journey of life is to keep going and never give up. Throughout life we will be tested, we will lose people in death and unfortunately, some will just fall away.

Despite it all, we must know that GOD is a present help, friend, mother, brother, and sister. He is everything we need. I learned to completely lean and trust Him fully because life will take you down some paths, but GOD will make your crooked paths straight. Stay steadfast, unmovable, and never allow your faith to waver.
