Conversations with Celeste Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Celeste Wilson.

Celeste Wilson

Hi Celeste, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I grew a passion for writing in the eleventh grade. It all started when I had to rewrite a play titled A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams but with an urban twist. From then, I fell in love with the feeling that I get every time that I write. As the years passed, life, of course, got in the way. I ended up working full-time while attending college. On the train rides to work or school, I started to write stories in the Notes App on my phone. Unfortunately, while transferring that document to myself on the computer, I lost everything. Completely discouraged, I had stopped writing again. In 2016, while being a stay-at-home mom and then wife, I decided to publish a book. I started a brand-new stories with new characters and took things from there. One thing that I did make sure to do was to include at least one of the characters from the first short story that I had written years prior; after I had published my first book, I ended up finding my very first short story hidden email in emails. That short story ended up being my fourth book published. Today, I have twenty-five published books on Amazon.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Has the road to get where I am been a smooth one? Absolutely not. When home life didn’t come knocking, then work life did. Trying to balance being a mom and a full-time worker was challenging, but the way around that is to find what works for you. Writing is very time-consuming so one thing that I learned was to make time for it. Even if it was for five minutes jotting down in a notebook or my phone, I made time to get it done.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an author. My favorite genres to write in are African American Romance, Urban Fiction, and Street Literature. What I am known for is the ability to have all of my readers escape reality, even if for five minutes. What makes me proud is that within the last going on eight years, I have published twenty-five titles. I think what makes me different from other authors out there is how detailed I am when it comes to my writing. My goal is to get every single last reader to envision the story that they are reading.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I am not a believer in luck, but I do believe in karma. I believe that hard work and dedication are what get things done and that karma handles all of the bad stuff.
