Today we’d like to introduce you to Chanel Porter-Lagrier
Chanel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Wow! First, I would like to say “thank you,” for this opportunity. I greatly appreciate it.
I started my podcast May 2020. I have always wanted to do a podcast, but thought I needed a lot of money to start. I didn’t know all I needed was my phone and my voice. Lol! After doing my research, I started working on creating my podcast. So, let’s backtrack. I always wanted to create this podcast for my best friend and I. We’re two total different people, and people just think I’m bougie and not down-to-earth, but it’s the total opposite. My best friend would always say “I wish people could see what I see because they wouldn’t believe this.” Lol. So originally, I wanted to start this podcast to showcase our personalities.
We started this podcast together, but things happened.
I would love for us to come together again in the near future.
This podcast is centered around helping “black business owners,” promote their business by setting up an interview with me.
My interviewees really are the best, and they make me feel like what I do is well worth it.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not! Lol..,
Like any business, there are plenty of bumpy roads. Scouting business owners is a challenge. Everyone is so competitive. I scout a lot of business owners on IG, however, the people with larger following than you, don’t want anything to do with you. It’s so sad, No one wants to see someone else succeed.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Rehab Director, I am in-charge of the Rehab Department in a Nursing Home. I manage Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Therapists. I am a Physical Therapist Assistant by background.
I am most proud of being a Black American woman who is a Rehab Director. There are not that many of
us.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I don’t have a favorite childhood memory. My childhood was pretty good.
I’ve had moments that were better than others.
I guess I could say that I had the best Christmases growing up. I kinda got whatever I asked for. Lol
