Today we’d like to introduce you to Charles Bell Jr.
Hi Charles, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I play pro basketball and also a music producer/engineer. I’ve been playing basketball since six years old and began making beats at 17. I began to have basketball dreams at the age of nine and producer dreams as young as the age of seven while I was singing in the choir at church. I got where I am now by staying consistent, and believing in how I can improve everyday. My ultimate goal is to become a star NBA player, while being an industry producer/engineer.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely wasn’t a smooth road. I struggled the most with finding identity and balance between my two skills. It’s also been a struggle finding a good support group for me to be apart of.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I consider myself a dual threat with my skills. Being that I produce music, and play pro basketball I consider myself to be known for these skills. Im most proud of the fact I kept my same sense of wonder I had as a child, it greatly aided in having motivation to keep growing and learning different techniques with my skills. Furthermore, what sets me apart from others is my mindset. I have a very sacrificial mindset where I will put all things not important to the side to gain the things that are of greater importance.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
The greatest advice I could give at my age would be; become a student of life, use everyday to get one step closer to what you want to do.
