Conversations with Charles Wallace

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charles Wallace.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hello, my name is Charles Wallace. 27-year-old mixed media creative. Originally from Indianapolis, IN, now located in Atlanta, GA. Art various from a simple sketch on note pads to complex full-size canvas paintings. Mediums vary from pen & sharpie to watercolor, acrylic & oil pastels. My art has no boundaries and will extend as I continue to create. I started drawing at a young age, and my natural talent was realized then. I started painting seriously four years ago for therapy. Now I design my own 1of1 pieces, rugs, custom, you name it if it’s art im interested in it.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth? No, being an artist is tough because as much as you are admired for your work in person, you are slept on behind doors. Even when sharing and supporting cost $0.00. But some feel by giving light to you it dims theirs. Alot of people talk about supporting artists but rarely do people stand by that. But it’s all a process.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a mixed media creative: art, music, design, customs. I’m probably known most for my faceless portraits. What sets me apart is my style is all over the place, I don’t limit my vision.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Trust yourself. Dont overthink creating. Trust the vibes—dont rush. Dont follow trends; create what you want. Lead the way. Authenticity is rare these days. I wish I knew some of the networking methods now.
