Conversations with Collin Cosby

Today we’d like to introduce you to Collin Cosby.

Hi Collin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The Regulars played our first shows in 2021 at The Roadhouse in Athens. At first it was a whimsical experiment—mostly just seeing if we could even do it. We quickly found that we enjoyed ourselves so it didn’t take long for us to begin playing around Athens and eventually Atlanta regularly. We’ve grown and changed as people and as musicians over the past few years, but we’re going strong and the vision for the band is clearer than ever.

What started as an exercise in musicianship, has grown into a full fledged rock band performing all over the Southern US and beyond in 2025. We’re still growing and learning, but we’re eager for the future.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been the smoothest ride. We’ve been fortunate to avoid many of the infamous perils of the road, but we’ve dealt with our fair share of bad luck gigs, cancellations, traffic jams, minor injuries, and more.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
All great music is Soul music. It may not sound like Aretha, but if it transcends and connects, it comes from the soul. That is where The Regulars musical DNA starts, although we most definitely are a rock n roll band. We pride ourselves on taking a wide influence from all across the American musical tradition, incorporating funk, blues, and a penchant for improvisation into a distinct blend of southern flare.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
When we first started out we just said yes to every opportunity. We feel this allowed us to quickly find our footing as a band and get over some of the “first few shows” jitters.
