Today we’d like to introduce you to Corisa Goodman.
Hi Corisa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I go by the name Trendi May. I’m originally from Milwaukee, WI but I live in Atlanta, GA. For the last year, I worked as a photo model and for the last six years, I worked as a freelance makeup & hairstylist. I’m also. Small business owner of a one stop beauty & clothing line called “Trendi May Glamtique” which is located in Atlanta, GA. I have a huge passion for acting, modeling, makeup, and the beauty field in general. I love being in front of the camera. I mainly shoot fashion, swimwear, lingerie and I enjoy creative projects like bodypaint or dress up. I also feature in a couple of short films, music videos, and comedy scripts. I am currently modeling and casting for studio prime time, bombshell networks, yhicey modeling agency, Nine9 agency and individual photographers and projects. I am also available for photoshoots and casting roles in ATL but available to travel to other destinations in the US.
I am 5’7, slim & petite with brown smooth, silky skin, which makes me a good model for swimwear, runway, lingerie, athletic, and high fashion. I enjoy working with Photographers and agencies that have a creative approach. I bring positive energy and strong passion for modeling & casting to every project I work on. I consisted myself as a Great S-P-A-R-K meaning I love to smile. I take pride in everything I do. I’m respectable at all times and very knowledgeable which helps me to perform my job and be creative. My career really started off when I went to a shoot working behind the scene as a Makeup artist for other models. The owner of the studio which was studio prime time asked me why I’m working behind the scene and nog in front of the camera. I laughed and told I don’t know why. He put me in front of the camera and we played around but ever since then, my career took off ever since, after pursuing modeling after so many months, I started acting, doing videos for some major celebrities and big castings agencies, doing short films and plays. Some big projects I have done so far in acting is Tyler Perry new movie (Madea Homecoming), Bmf new series with 50 cents, Have and the have nots final cast reunion, and I’m now working on my first major role with star power production where I play one of the main roles in the movie. I ask god continue to take me higher. He has been very good to me and I’m very thankful for him.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life hasn’t been smooth for me all the time especially being on own since 14. I didn’t grow up with a rich family so I couldn’t pursue my modeling career cause the agency I was with was very cost-effective. I didn’t give up on my dreams I kept going. When I moved from Milwaukee to Atlanta, everything fell in place for me again. I also was hospitalized in 2013 after I was involved in a major car accident. I broke my femur bone and had to get a metal rod in my hip and three skews in the knee and five pins and my left hand. I was told I wasn’t going to be able to walk again but by the grace of god as of today, I am. It was very depressing moment for me. Seeing where I am today is a blessing. 2014 I lost my second child. She’s was nine months old. I thought I would never recover from losing her but I thank him. I was pregnant with my son. He kept me strong and going. I couldn’t bear the feeling of losing another child so I had to remain strong for him and my oldest child. Last year of December, I also lost my mom. One of my biggest supporters. She’s one of the main reasons I work very hard. She always told me I was going to be a star so I work hard to make her proud and make sure I make it happen to make her proud.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I like to consider myself as an entrepreneur. I see new business opportunity and I create a business to exploit it. I specialize in a lot of work skills. I’m a licensed cosmetologist but I specialize in makeup and fashion. After finding my passion in the beauty and fashion industry, I decided to start my own brand which is a one stop shop for everyone’s beauty needs. It’s called Trendi May Glamtique. I started with my own cosmetics and I then added fashion with the latest trends, I’m also a model, actor, songwriter, promoter, and the list goes on. I’m known for being a hard worker. Many people would say I’m a jack of all trades cause I’m good in anything I put my mind to. Something I’m proud of is taking a leap of faith without a plan and seeing all my accomplishments come together. I might not be where I want to be yet but I’m sure not where I used to be. Thank God for that. I know God is not done with me yet. What sets me apart from others is I’m very optimistic. I love to motivate others when things get rough. I’m also quick to tackle harder assignments that others might not be reluctant to take on. I’m also kind and humble with a positive attitude. I’m very passionate in anything I do. I’m open to learn new things and love to grow with people. I have a strong work ethic and take pride in anything I do. I’m respectable of others and treat people the way I want to be treated. I do go above and beyond for anybody and value others. I’m also a person of my word and very reliable. If I say, I’m going to do something, you can count on me. I say what I mean and mean what I say.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love that Atlanta is so full of opportunity and the support I get here. Besides the senseless killings, I don’t think there’s nothing I don’t like here. It was the best move I ever made and I don’t deny moving here at all.
