Conversations with Crystal Britton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Britton.

Hi Crystal, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was Severely burned when at the age of four. Left alone with my great grandma other and a few siblings and cousins while they were also young. Helicopter flew me over from Queens, NY to The Bronx NY Jacobi burn unit for surgery treatment and care for nine months. My dad loved me in with him in Brooklyn East Flatbush after to care me. A little while after my stepmom and children of 5 slowly came into the one bedroom apt My dad and I shared. I bounced back and forth between my mom dad and myself for years up until I was 16 1/2. Also started losing my hair my parents were pretty much “busy” that they never took the time out to make sure it wasn’t anything wrong. My dad once but who’s count lol… age 21, I started to take matters in my own hands and search for dermatologist clinic in between I decided to cut my hair into a creaser plus it went with my image. Age 23, I found a dermatologist that gave me steroid shots which was painful and could damage organs. I stopped and started looking myself in the mirror a few years down the line. Age 30 after struggling with self-love issues and being overweight, I decided to make a change. I went on my own weight loss journey and cut my hair skin bald. I started to embrace my self move each day and notice only I can do the work to make me feel and look exactly how I should, “beautiful in and out” my story was what lead nutritional companies, wellness trainers, motivational speakers and people who battled with what I did self hate towards me. I show gratitude each day for that plus more and I start my day with a yoga pose or stretch to consume the new beginnings of life that’s given each day. I now am an Alopecian advocate/ model. I am a wellness coach l/ herballife distributor

I am I high key believer of achieving exactly what you want in the most positive way.

Keep smiling each day.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Getting comfortable to be hatless when I don’t have a haircut. Only because I do have Alopecia and I’m not 100% there yet, although I still try my best to challenge myself when time comes.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a candidate bus operator which works for me because I love to drive and tour the communities and different folks each day also if my smile can’t brighten up a persons day that’ll do the job for me. I am also a poet, love the microphone. Growing up, I always wrote about 1minute worth of rhymes and said when I was a young adult that I would perform at a cafe like Lawrence rate did in “Love Jones“ the movie. Which I did right in Atlanta, Georgia more than a handful of times.

I’m also a model more for Alopecia awareness support events, etc. I worked with actress Nafessa Williams, starring Netflix series “Black Lightening“ plus a few more designers.
