Today we’d like to introduce you to Dale Jennings.
Hi Dale, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m 30 years young, born and raised in ATLien.
I would say I wear many hats, but I’ve been a nail enthusiast since I was about 10 years old. I remember the day my mom bought me the KISS DIY nail kit like it was yesterday, and she was my first client. It became our way to bond in the midst of all of the chaos that seemed like the norm at the time… it quickly became my distraction. It was something for me to study and practice every day. I would do anybody’s nails who would let me- cousins, classmates, neighbors. I was obsessed with the idea that when you look good, you feel good, so I wanted to sprinkle some love on everybody.
Around the time I found out that I was expecting my son, I decided I wanted to crank my passion up a notch. I turned my garage into my happy place- my in-home nail suite. And I started in cosmetology school to establish myself a professional nail tech.
The experiences I’ve had with clients have been amazing and I’m still learning and growing and enjoying my process.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would love to say it’s been a smooth road, but I have faced many struggles in planting my feet and walking in my purpose.
The main one that comes to mind is that I often find myself juggling so many things at once- from school, being an around-the-clock mommy to my superstar four year old, working jobs that I’m not at all passionate about to keep bills paid and be able to maintain a stable environment for my family, while also trying to build my clientele so we can live comfortably off of my God-given talent alone. And in the midst of that, I absolutely make a little time for myself.
It’s not always smooth sailing but you know they say, “A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.”
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a nail tech that specializes in creating an intimate space for women to relax, get pampered, and forget about their day to day stresses. I offer acrylic enhancements, pedicures, and design and create custom press-on nail sets for my girlies on the go. And I also offer lash extensions. I think my clients would say I’m most known for the experience I create because they can’t get enough of the complimentary hookah, wine, and much-needed time to let their hair done while getting bomb nails. What am I most proud of is being able to watch myself grow and get better and have people fall in love with my artistry.
