Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Harold.
Hi Danielle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My family and friends call me Dani. I have been a professional makeup artist (M.U.A) for over 14 years. I am originally from Washington, D.C., Maryland (DMV). Music and the arts are what introduced me to the world of makeup. As a Music Performance Major at Morgan State University, I was committed to great skill with stage appearances and looks. It was then I realized that I love beautification, not just for myself but for others. To bring the beauty from within, have it shine outwardly, and give people a boost in confidence makes me happy.
One of my greatest passions is my ability to teach and mentor others. From makeup enthusiasts to professionals and everyday women, I strive to make learning simple and effective. I want those working with me to feel more confident and passionate about what they have learned, whether it be applying it to themselves or others.
In November 2022, I stopped running from something God had given me a vision of years ago. Instead, I stepped out on faith to pursue DHBEAUTY full-time. Full-time influencing and being a professional MUA. Also, launching our first set of products, Kissable Nudes pigmented glosses, was just the beginning! In January 2023, we launched our Kissable Reds line. This line is our soft matte red liquid lipsticks.
Right now, we are sitting at 70k followers combined over all platforms and reaching new people daily. I love to share my gift with the world and share my faith with it. So many lives have been blessed, but most importantly, I’ve been touched by what God can do through me. My faith journey with DHBEAUTY is accompanied by my loving husband, Coach Larry, of 13 years (14 in July) – and my four beautiful, loving children!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A smooth road… not. However, it’s been worth all of the hills and valleys. If I had to highlight some of the many struggles that come with working for yourself, owning your cosmetic line, and living your life out for the world to see (with boundaries, of course), I would highlight two. These two have been a little consistent as of late. The first one would be managing and balancing as a whole. I am big on making sure things are in order. First God, next Family, then work. If the first two are out of balance, so will work. I will notice that some things that may not have been heavy before will be heavier to carry. In Luke 12:48 (MSG), the Bible says that Great gifts mean great responsibilities; greater gifts greater responsibilities! So, this is required of me to maintain that balance. When I need to step away and reassess or restructure to make things more manageable, I do that. If I need a day or two to step away and have time, I do that too. I never want to take gifts and responsibilities for granted, so I must be wise in carrying and handling them. What’s meant for God to run, I make sure that’s in His hands, and what’s for my hands to do, I do that to the best of my ability.
Second, I think in the day and age where social media has become the social norm. Society bases its success on how many followers you have, if your videos can go viral, that will determine your reach, etc. If Im not comparing my success to the success of others, I am dealing with also what others have to say about my gift and business. So the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 16:9 (AMP), because a wide door for effective service has opened to me [I Ephesus, a promising opportunity], and there are many adversaries. We tend to forget sometimes that just because we are walking in our promise, that doesn’t mean the enemy won’t try to throw us off the track. Whether it be a comparison or others having opinions that do not help push you or the vision in the right direction, the enemy will use these things and other things to play in your mind. I have to remind myself that I was called and chosen daily. Even if one person is reached out of millions, I have done what I am supposed to do.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a professional Makeup Artist and have also launched my cosmetic line. Currently, we have our Kissable Nudes. Seven nude glosses that are tailored and made for all skin tones. And we have our Kissable Red Soft Matte Liquid Lipsticks. Six soft matte liquid lipsticks in different shades of red that are moisturizing and smudge-proof.
As a makeup artist, I specialize in bridal, everyday, entertainment, and special occasions. As an influencer, I specialize in not only sharing my favorite makeup products, clothing, and accessories, but I also share the gospel and my faith. Encourage and help others and myself, as I also am a work in progress.
What separates me from others is that I am me. I never want to compete with anyone except myself. I can only be me, and to try to imitate or duplicate another gift would be an insult to God and myself. I am also a person who celebrates and pushes my comrades. This industry is full of talented and fabulous people. Each of us possesses something special that is to be celebrated, not competed or compared.
What am I most proud of? I am proud of pushing through and continuing. There have been many times that I wanted to give up. I’m a person who tried to give up on life because I felt things were too hard and my family and the world would be better off without me. But God said not yet; there’s still work to do. I’m still here. Every day may not be perfect, but I’m an imperfect person who serves a perfect God. So with my faith and determination, I will do what I have been created to do.
How do you define success?
I would define success as your accomplishments that are tailored made to you and your journey. Nothing is too big or too small to call a success. Writing your first sentence for your book that’s a success. Turning the keys to your very own office that’s a success. Being able to make up someone feel good about themselves, whether it be through makeup, song, or just a word, that’s a success. Most of all, being able to see yourself as you are to see yourself and doing what makes you happy is a success.
