Today we’d like to introduce you to Dasia Hamilton.
Hi Dasia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I usually go by Asiia. I’m known on social media as Asiia Marvelous. The name came from me realizing how talented I am with everything I do & I believe I am an extraordinary person, plus all my friends call me Asiia anyways, Marvelous is the brand/my ego. I’m 24 years old, a single mother & I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Growing up, I’ve ALWAYS been into fashion and construction but we didn’t have the money for me to have the latest clothes and shoes like everyone else. I honestly believe that not, having those things made me closer to fashion & all things fashion (i.e., makeup, hair, modeling, etc.) because at a point in my life, I started creating & crafting my own clothes & beginning to learn how to do my own hair at 15 / 16 years old. So for quite some time now, I’ve been tapping into my cosmetic & fashion world. I remember one day my mother took me to a casting agency in Times Square. It was a cool & interesting experience. I say interesting because I always believed females that are at least 5’7” were in the height range to be a runway model.
However, I’m not tall enough, unfortunately. Just before moving to Georgia (2020) I began building my makeup clientele as I became better by practicing on myself while watching youtube university. I’ve been here in Georgia for almost two years now and I’ve decided to seriously pursue modeling, makeup & real estate because why not, Georgia is definitely the state to network & grow. Growing up, construction & architecture was something else I was really into. I’ve always told myself & others that I WILL leave behind some type of landmark, a school, bridge, building, a city/town, etc. Something with my name on it, to be remembered as. I’ve been pursuing real estate to decrease the amount of transactions and people I would have to go through in order to buy property & sell my properties. I am achieving my goals one by one & I will NOT stop progressing until EVERY goal I set it completed. I’m a jack of all trades, overachiever, perfectionist, I’ll take all of those titles. I love to make people smile by seeing the things I’ve created or the makeup I’ve done once someone says I’ve done a good job, I’m completely satisfied. There’s something soothing about receiving compliments on something you’re passionate about!! I’m extremely proud of myself for what I have accomplished thus far but I know I have a lot more to go & the grind hasn’t stopped just yet.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been the smoothest journey for me. I would say financial hardship was the biggest challenge we faced growing up. Not having the money to do things or buy things we wanted, sometimes needed.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a work from home agent for health insurance. However, I also do makeup & modeling here in Georgia. I’m very proud of myself for coming here & beginning this modeling journey because this is something I’ve wanted to do since I was a child & having the opportunity to do it here in Atlanta is a BIG step for me. I’m also extremely proud of my makeup work because of how far I’ve come. I began at doing only natural makeup looks, to now being able to work with eyeshadows, glitters, etc. What sets me apart from the rest is my goal to create a one-stop shop will have such an impact once developed that I’ll inspire other beauty & fashion enthusiasts to go all out for their craft as well.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My mother would be my biggest supporter because she either financially helped me so I can gather the materials needed to begin my journeys or she was the first person I was practicing on other than myself. I also have a few friends who trusted me in the beginning of my makeup journey like Kemma who called me almost every night because she needed her makeup done for a night out or Asha who needed looks for her photoshoots (someone who made me come out of my comfort zone with looks & colors due to all of her creative shoots.)
