Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Chanel.

Hi Destiny, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am currently a Georgia State University Neuroscience major. For the last couple of years, aside from learning all there is to know about our body’s nervous systems, I have been working in the Real Estate industry. I discovered my passion for Real Estate when I saw the impact of Real Estate on our everyday lives. I’ve gained knowledge from hands-on work as well as industry professionals that have taught me everything that has to do with Real Estate within the Commercial and Residential fields. One of the most impactful scenarios I have seen in one of the areas is property management, which is very controversial in today’s market, as the price of rent and homes are constantly rising.

My years of experience are made up of unlearning what I have been taught through stories or other people’s bad experiences. I have observed and read that much of the general population lives in fearbased on myths and horror stories spread about the real estate market. The reality is it is not a scary unachievable process. All the people’s lives that have been positively impacted in my time working for a commercial and residential property management company finally pushed me to pursue a career in Real Estate.

Although used interchangeably, real estate agent and Realtors® are not the same. As a Realtor®, much like doctors and lawyers, we must abide by a strict code of ethics and articles, this means we are held to different professional standards, even if we perform similar jobs. Obtaining my license was only the beginning, becoming a Realtor was the next step, and finding the right brokerage that supports what I believe in was the missing piece.

I am fortunate enough to have found a brokerage that supported my vision. RudHil Companies is a fully integrated Real estate Hub. The founder and CEO, Hilda Abbott, is a magnificent mentor, Latina, fashionista, and very much like family to me. Hilda’s vision inspired me more than she could imagine. Usually, when doing any real estate transaction, you must visit multiple vendors for different purposes, but at RudHil, you are sure to find multiple vendors for the same purpose and they all offer different products which remove a great deal of stress on the client’s end. On top of being a great business tool, the main attraction for me was community inclusion. Giving back to the community a wealth of free education, health screenings, vaccinations, and many other ways is priceless in my eyes.

After finding the right brokerage that aligned with what I believe in, I knew I was ready to get started in educating others. The main issue I have seen with real estate is within the minority communities. If you look at the statistics, you will find minorities are more likely to rent than own. I want to help change that. Helping others make one of the biggest investments in their lifetime, with the support of experienced professionals that are looking to change the community through real estate, is one of my greatest satisfactions. Knowing I have changed one person’s life and that that, in turn, will impact a whole family or community is just the icing on the cake.

I have always thought of Realtors® as a lawyer, unfortunately, we cannot act as lawyers, but if you had a choice to defend yourself in a courtroom with a lawyer or by yourself which would you choose to get you the best outcome? Even if you are not ready now, I sit down with you, inform you, and make it possible for you to achieve any of your real estate goals. Whether it be repairing your credit, saving up for a down payment, or learning more about the real estate market, I will hold your hand through the process to make your real estate dream possible to achieve. Do not let the misinformation discourage you from making a decision that will benefit you. Finding a home or your next business location is more than an investment; it is a commitment. Having a Realtor® that is well prepared in this market is crucial. I am attentive to the market and its demands, so you won’t have to be. I pride myself on providing the finest client service by actively listening, communicating, educating, and understanding your needs to negotiate a deal that will best benefit you.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
All roads have their ups and downs. I believe the greatest struggle I have had to confront is realizing that there is a lack of education on the topic of Real Estate and financial literacy. I have spoken to people, including family members, who say “you just want my money, not knowing most likely they will not be paying me. I realized change comes from within, as I stated, my family did know the facts before I entered this field, so informing them and opening them to a whole new concept was hard to accept, but after learning a bit more about the field, they felt comfortable with making decisions related to Real Estate. What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Having a strong foundation of people who are going to stick by your side through your journey is essential. You cannot do everything on your own. Pursuing this career with a wonderful team and family by my side encouraging me throughout the whole process is an indescribable feeling! I have been fortunate enough to be surrounded by empowering Latinas in an industry that does not have much of that representation.
